Hi All,

I had on my 2017 PFL Cupra H&R progressive springs and the handling was really phenomenal, after about two years they started to wear down and the performance decreased. My workshop recommended me to put the new VWR linear springs (the grey ones not the old blue ones), they told me that they are better than the H&Rs.

After installation I immediately noticed that they are much more comfortable but the handling was not as good as the H&Rs. I was told to give it some time to get use to them, but now after a few months with them I still feel that they're not nearly as good as the H&Rs.

Do you have experience with the new VWR springs? What do you think?

Springs wore down and performance decreased after 2 years

sounds strange to me.

probably more to do with bushes / dampers than springs “wearing down”. I think you have been had

Most of my driving with the Cupra is at the track, so that can explain the wearing... I check the bushes/dampers about every 7.5km so far they ok.

sorry but springs do not wear out after 2 years. if they did your car will have dropped some mm and your dampers would be dead. ask your workshop again about the springs and if they confirm i suggest you to change workshop. if you are noticing some change in your handling after 2 years, change your tires..

As others have said, I would expect it to be more likely the dampeners/shocks that are the issue as being lowered they're working outside of their optimal range.

You can get Bilstein shocks that plug in the way as the standard cupra shocks, but are designed to work better with lowering springs.
