Hi :)

I've been speaking with a couple of SEAT dealers and are quoting a 23-25 week wait for a factory build with a 1.4 eco TSI engine which surprised me.

Does anyone know if the wait is always this long? I'm wondering if it's worth holding off to see what deals come out after March and if the wait time will reduce?

They will reduce without a doubt. The uncertainty of facelift orders landing typically extends the initial lead time the dealer's quote. Additionally lots of orders go in from the different RBU's for stock of the facelift - should there be a big demand following good press in their region, they don't want to turn people away.

I bought my 1.8FR before the engine variant went into production week and was told 20 weeks. It arrived after 10 and was ready before I was willing to collect!

Ive been quoted 12-16 weeks on the standard 1.4 non eco engine, most likely this will be the same for the eco tsi.

When I was enquiring about the facelift 1.4 Eco tsi in late December I was told by two separate dealers that this engine was in high demand owing to the success of the Ateca and couldn't guarantee a delivery on a new order until after April. In the end I went for a dealer order with very similar spec to what I originally wanted minus ACC & Seat Sound (both of which I can live without). It also means i will not be affected by the increase in VED here in the U.K. which i was happy about. So just counting down those days!

I'm guessing the long wait is all down to the large quantity of people trying to get their new cars ordered before the new tax laws come in in April

I ordered an FR 1.4 EcoTSI two weeks ago. Spoke to the dealer yesterday and was told the build is scheduled to begin in the middle of March. They reckon delivery will therefore be about the middle of April. If they're right, that's about 10 weeks in all.

We ordered one about a week ago, 1.4 FR 150 with a few options. Build week planned for mid April. So the wait times don't seem as bad as some dealers seem to be suggesting.

I have been looking around at the 1.4 engine for my FR build, i was told by a dealer in the north west that the 1.4 engines were in high demand because VW group have allowed Skoda to use the engine for the fabias for the first time and didn't ramp up production to suit.

Also they have added the 1.2 engine to the range to try and ease demand on the 1.4s if people didn't need the extra power.

Whether its true or not i dont know but sounds feasible.

Just an update on this. I'm collecting my 1.4 ecoTSi tomorrow, so its taken just 8½ weeks, better then expected. But the dealer said deliveries were all over the place at the moment.

Seems I'll cancel my order. I hate this build date changing BS. I got week 20 initially 2 weeks now to week 20 they move it again to week 23. By the time I get the car it'll old car. The week 23 is not even a confirmed date. As much as I want to join seat club, the waiting times are just getting ridiculous.
