Hi guys.

First of all I'm on my phone so sorry if there's any dodgy spelling lol.

Been out tonight and I've been leaking :( pointed out by a friend. It looks like load but that's because it always does. Doesn't seem to do it on idle just under load/ revving.

Just got under the car and it looks like it's coming down the back of the engine? The splashes are central and even get the passenger wishbone a tad.

Does this mean my cars mega broken? I think I read about the turbo having like a water jacket... Hope that's not going :(

Tried searching but leak returns Millions and I'm just looking for advice as to run the car or not :(

Cheers

Tom

Could just be a flexible pipe split but as said coolant is circulated through turbo
You can kneel on slam panel and lean over to check down back, but make sure it is not running onto something else causing misleading location
Until we know what has split it is stab in the dark time

Check all the radiator hoses keep a good eye on your coolant level and if you do run it take it easy get the car booked in asap if you cant see where it's from ;)

Ahh didn't think that it could be running from anywhere... I'm nervous about running it now as I have a 20mile trip to work and don't want something to let go on the way....

Bus?? Lol you need to find where it's from mate until then I wouldn't drive it unless you really have to :(

Absolutely. I'm going to have to borrow a car or take the day off to find it. What worries me is it seems to be coming from the back of the block when you look underneath :/

Of course I do lol several infact :) will be out there first thing to have a butchers before work if I can as it's a bit late now.

morning guys,

right... left the car running for an hour this morning and i had no leak!?

also checked the fluids before i started the car and i've lost an inch in 3weeks... so i cant be leaking surely?!

whilst searching around i came across this:

LINK

if the link isnt allowed im sorry, i will just copy and paste the info in.

for the lazy: it is the same issue as i have... but the guy was told it could the the aircon drain pipe.... and i did have the heaters on last night but surely that wont cause it?!

oh, and i drove the car to work... car came up to temperature fine... the heating is lovely and hot and wasnt leaking when i got to work!?

if your not loosing any coolant then its the AC compresser. Turn your AC off for your 20mile drive and then look. There shouldnt be any. Water comming from the compresser is totally normal. if your rad header tanks all A ok, then my monies on your AC

Have you had heavy rain? scuttle blocked with leaves and finding the wrong way out as drains are blocked?

If youve lost an inch maybe its no longer leaking due to less volume... top up and watch for leak?

think is andy... and this is whats confusing me... i drove to work with the heaters on full and didnt get any leaking when i got to work!? how mental is that.

I am going to keep a VERY close eye on it. even turned the stereo down so i hear any mental noises haha..

no real amount of rain here tbh..

Its usually the cooling effect of the air that condenses the water. in the summer with AC on - theres always a massive puddle! these days im not using AC - thus no puddle, had it on my passat too, so its certainly normal! drive home tonight with no ac, see what happens :p

Ok snow flake on the heater control pannel yer? not to confuse with the snowflake by the rev counter! well - hit the snow flake button bottom left of the heater controls and itll turn off! if theres no snow flake on the LCD display, its not on - then just turn the heat up and set it to the windscreen if you start to mist up :p

yeah thats the one... think it never worked in the past... but we shall see :)

Bad times. Got home no problems.. No leaks at all. Just went to go out after a few hours and within seconds the light came on. Checked the bottle and ita empty!!! Totally empty.

Now I'm worried I've damaged the lump, although the temp gauge hasn't been past half so I'm assuming it just dumped the contents??

Bugggger!!! yer sometimes if a rads on its way out itll dump it once pressure is released - ie slow down or stop. Can you see where the leaks comming from? stupid rain so you couldnt see the massive puddle! I feel your pain as I had this fun when I spanked the fox, but go get some rad weld! 1st find where the leak is, then fill it up with radweld for the moment. If its the rad thats leaking!
Another point to check is the rad bleeder, a jolt can sometimes, not often, loosen that off.
