Weird front end rubbing noise after lowring springs

Hi everyone,

I recently installed st suspension's shock/lowering spring kit on my 2007 Leon Cupra. Since the installation I have been getting some really weird rubbing noises coming from the front end. I can describe the noise like a dumpened version of a creaking sound not clunking or metal on metal contact. The sound only happens when I move slowly or reversing and is not continuous sounds like I can hear it when going over very slight bumps - but I can't hear anything when going over big bumps or when moving fast.

Numerous people have checked the car and everyone says it is OK - the most relevant answer I got is that "lowering springs make these noises" which is of course not satisfying. After doing some reading I started believing that it is the bump stops which have not been changed over the stock ones by the person who installed the shocks eventhough they have been supplied with the kit - so much for saving money on labor[:@]!

The sound does not seem to go away as the springs set (have done around 1000 miles now) and the car behaves normally handling-wise. The noise is driving me crazy and I have already wasted enough ££ only for people not being able to identify the noise. Any suggestions/ideas would be most welcome...

Thanks in advance

Firstly try the subframe bolts these do come loose on the cupras ,and vibrate & clunk against the subframe & chassis. If the link doesn't work try typing in loose mk5 golf subframe bolts in to YouTube.
This will show you were to find them but ignore the conversion kit, just tighten them up,mine were fine 10k miles later after re torquing.

If you had the Cupra lowered you should have had a full tracking and camber amusement done.
Down my neck of the woods they are called pro tyre. And for £40 they will laser realine the suspension adjustments.
This is a must!!!!!
As just doing a front wheel track could cause problems with suspension set up. And they may be able to see the problem other mechanics can't see!!

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply; I actually did a proper hunter 4 wheel alignment not once but twice and everything looks fine. I'll check for these screws though the sound is different and more of a rubber rubbing against rubber or sth - it is really weird if anyone had the same issue after lowering springs please let me know...
