Looking at changing the intercooler on my cupra r in the near future. Which welly cooler have people gone for? Links would be great

Seen the r-tech ones but is there any others people have gone for?

Hi mate putting the R-Tech cooler on mine soon you can get the toyosports one off eBay and no doubt other makes but just make sure it's a bar and plate design and not tube and fin as they are useless and have a nickname of wellycooker due to the poor performance.

Although a wellycooler isn't a direct fit by a long margin it will out perform any other fmic and are good for over 500bhp on a mk2 Cupra. Off the top of my head the core size you want is 600x300x76 ;)

Okay mate fancy taking a few pics when you fit your r-tech one? Just the routing of pipe work and how it mounts. Do you keep the air con with that cooler?

Ahh wellycooker Ye be careful when I come to order but will more than likely go with r-tech.

See your going stage 2+, you changing your clutch or gonna wait till it goes?

No problem mate I'll add a load of pics to my readers ride once fitted. I'm having the AC ripped out as I don't use it however if you want to keep it that isn't a problem. My cooler is having solid pipe work as this will aid in getting the best flow and also eliminate any chance of a boost leak.

I've already changed the clutch to a Helix organic mate so won't have any problems with that.My stock setup failed due to the release bearing giving up once it was stripped down to be honest I could have just changed the bearing and put a new dual mass in as that had signs of wear.

But as I'd already got the uprated kit and it was in bits I decided to fit it anyway.

Going to update my thread in a min so if you write a comment you will be subscribed so any future updates done you'll get an email notification :)

Nice one mate look forward to seeing it. So with the solid pipes will there be many joiners to allow for movement of the engine? Do you know what size the pipe work will be? You couldn't fit the r-tech cooler to the cars original pipes then have some made up once it's in place could you?

Nice so your using that set up with the dmf? How does it feel to standard? I'll be looking to do that in the near future.

Will have a read and comment now mate :)
