Due to increased spam on the site, which comes with being a high-traffic site, we are trialling a tool to help fight it. It is an automated "AI" tool to scan posts for suspect links and text.
If it finds something it believes needs human checking, it will put it into the moderator system for approval. As our moderators are kind volunteers, they won't necessarily be able to respond immediately, so please be patient while we review your posts if they are held for approval.
As with anything automated, mistakes can happen, and it can be overzealous, so it is likely to flag innocent content sometimes. This is not a personal gripe against any well-meaning individual.
The system will not remove anything on its own; everything it spots is flagged for a human check.
It is also designed to learn over time, so it should get better.
What we don't want to do is cause friction for our regular loyal users, but we also have to protect the very same people from spam taking over the site. It's a careful balance.
As I said in the title. We are testing this; it may stay, it may not.
This doesn't replace the report tool on every post that lets you flag content we may have missed, and we appreciate you continuing to help us with this.
