Wet Carpets...

Hey everyone,

I had an incident with a bottle of water in my rear passenger footwell...which resulted in the bottle being empty and the water being in the footwell.

So..

What is the best way to dry it out?

I have so far..
1) Tried to mop it up with towels.
2) Used a hair drier (or is that dryer?) to dry off the carpet.

Now I thought this would have dried it out but when I press on the carpet I can hear it squelch under pressure...so...do I need to remove the carpet (and how do you do that?) or is there a clever way to dry it that I cant think of?

Any replies would be great as I am worried about it going mouldy or stagnant!

Its a 55 Cupra R in case you needed to know!

Cheers

put some newspapers under the mat and that will soak it up in time or try a vax to suck most of it up;)

i saw this thread and i cringed. my golf mk4 had wet carpets one day turned out to be leaking door sills. it affected me that much i check after a heavy downpour that my carpets are not wet.....as flares says we should be used to wet carpets. i put a hot waterbottle in my golf and left the window down (if it was dry). all the best

Surrey darling...
Just stick something absorbant (news paper/kitchen roll as mentioned) under the floor mats and leave it for a day or to... alternatively leave the mats out and drive to work and back with the heating on full and aimed into the footwells! At least it's only bottled water... so shouldn't end up smelling or going mouldy if you do the above.

I used the vac cleaner in the local imo car wash to get rid of the excess water , then used some old towels . I had it valeted but I could still feel a little bit of water if I pressed down on the carpet , it soon dried out though . It might be worth trying a hairdryer ( BUT DONT TELL THE MISSUS )
