Had my local garage plug in their pc to my FL Leon to enable the chirp for locking and unlocking. But it says that it was unavailable.
There were 2 options to choose from.
Dashboard with maxi dot
And dashboard without maxi dot.

Anyone know what maxi dot is?

You may not have the 'chirp' siren fitted to the car. I'm not sure if all Leon's come with them however I've been researching into the MFD upgrade and on some Golf's a 'chirp siren' has also had to be added and connected into the Comfort Control Module.

If this is not the case I'm sure it can be turned on by the coding in VCDs under Central Convinience - Coding - Long Coding Helper. Select Siren Installed (un-tick Siren blocked) then select Locking confirmation with horn via remote.

Not sure if that will help....if you have someone with VCDS near to you (or go back to the garage again) and see if you have the following part when they carry out a Log check (to see any faults on the car). This is the part which gives the 'chirp' (I don't think it has changed since my 58 plate) so if you have it there is no reason why it can't be activated?

Part No: 1K0 951 605 C Component: LIN BACKUP HORN H03 1301

Our 2010 FR had the alarm chirp enabled, also staging. (cheers Greg!) its 2.0 Tsi if that makes a difference :)

I was looking at this the other day.

The chirping isn't enabled in the 'Adaptation' menu, however if you go into the Long Coding, you can enable it there. When I tried to do it through the adaptation menu, it said channel unavailable but worked fine when done through Long Coding.

I found loads of stuff that I didn't even know could be tried on my car, but it's mostly a case of fiddling about until something works.

Also, don't be surprised if it doesn't happen the first couple of times. I know that needle staging takes me at least 3 or 4 times of starting the ignition before it actually works

Go into the long coding helper, and use the up and down arrow keys to go through the codes. You'll eventually come to one of them where you can tick the boxes to enable them, and it changes the code for you. All you have to do is click apply.

It says something like 'Enable beep confirmation on lock' and 'Enable beep confirmation on unlock'

I don't have any idea of the long code, because I used the helper myself and didn't take much notice :D
