The symbol with the timer and the star? I see it on startup often . I have had a look in the manual but can't see what it means. Can anyone shed some light on this please?

It means the crash alert (or whatever it's called) hasn't quite fired up yet. It's part of the electronic warning system and should clear within 30-60 seconds. But I am no expert...

So I’ve looked to see if this new ping fault is listed and I can’t see it

Any ideas?

Switched engine off / on and it’s gone.

Doesn’t fill you with confidence

Check your manual, it has something to do with the hybrid electric system - charging, delayed charging etc.
My manual is not in english so I cannot C/P it here... I mean I could but you probably wouldn't understand a word of it :D

Hope this helps! Taken from the manual.

The warning lamp lights up yellow.
There is a fault in the vehicle’s drive system.
Drive slowly to a specialised workshop to havethe fault repaired.

Performance limited. The high-voltage battery
