Awesome. I have a shed load of 2GB cards, so I'll use one of those. Only got the car today, so I've got a fair bit of reading to do.

Thanks guys. I'll stick with the 2GB for the sat nav, and use a flash drive for my music. (connected to the CUP in the centre console.) :)

i have a 16gb SDHC card in mine and it works perfectly. IIRC the UK map file takes up around 700mb so the rest is free to fill with music

Cant remember the make but i got it for £17 from Amazon, free delivery too which was a bonus.

i emailed tele atlas who make the satnav oftware for the rns310 to see how i got speed cam database and they replied with its not possible, personally i think its carp that you pay all tht money for the rns310 and the only way to get speed cam info is to buy a portable satnav, yet tele atlas make speed cam available on there portable devices :wtf:

rant over

I put some acc files from iTunes on my card the other day but they didnt play. Have to inspect the manual...guess it could only be mp3's that are supported

Yeah it's got to be mp3, I will never buy any more music from iTunes because in effect you are leasing the music from them. The quickest way I found was to burn albums to disc then download it again into WMP as mp3. I tried a few free downloads that claimed to rip the music from iTunes but they didn't really work.

I downloaded a piece of free ware called Magic MP4a to MP3 converter... works a treat and is pretty fast too.

I now have all the iTunes music i spent an age ripping off CD's or downloading from the iTunes store on the SD card in the car in MP3 format. Anything else i have bought on CD and just ripped to MP3 format using windows media player. The MP3 files are a lot smaller as well

I've spent hours trawling the net for camera files for the navigation and found nothing...

I'm not worried about camera POIs on my satnav. I used to think it was useful, but it seems the police have just switched to using many more mobile cameras... And the POI maps aren't as useful against mobile cameras because you invariably find either (a) the site they've chosen isn't in the database, or (b) if you turn warnings on for every site marked as occasionally used by the camera van, you get false-positive warnings every single mile of your journey. When I turned on the warnings for mobile cameras on my TomTom (using the well regarded pocketgpsworld database), I got so many warnings that I just started to assume there wouldn't be a camera there - totally negating the point of the warnings.

It's much less hassle just to drive sensibly and keep your eyes peeled IMHO.

But it'll be harder to speed in my new Ecomotive, too, of course... ;)

Old thread, but on the topic: anybody know for a fact if the RNS310 will take SD cards bigger than 16GB?

Off topic: can I put multiple maps on 1 SD card?

It will take 32GB SDHC.

Might be worth bearing in mind, if all your music is high quality > 320kbps, that the SD cards only support a bit rate of upto 320kbps. Any higher and it won't play the files.
