What to do - should I keep my 06 2.0 tdi Stylance?

Morning fellas, Im in dilema.

Id love an FR TDi, well Id love a Cupra but I don’t think I can afford to buy one.

Currently driving a MK2 Leon 06 2.0 tdi Stylance, which I love. Ive never owned a car so long, although its only been 18 months! Bought it 18 months ago for £12k.

Car has nearly 60k on the clock now, I bought it with 28k, and since, I’ve spent a few quid on new Goodyear F1 tyres all round, and a few accessories such as arm rest, and ipod connector. Just put it through its first MOT, with no problems and its taxed for 6 months. Mine has the Bluetooth, computer, cruise, which I wont do without, as well as the DSG box, which again, Id love again.

The loan I have I pay 256 per month, which I do not want to increase. I feel now that the car is worth 9-9.5k on the private market, which would pay off my current loan.

Now, I need convincing either way to keep it, buy some FR bumpers which Ive found on ebay, lower it a tad, maybe get some new alloys, and then Id be happy, for another couple years, by then the car will be pushing 100k miles and not worth much at all, OR buy an actual slightly newer FR on some sort of SEAT finance deal.

:help:

To be brutally honest with you, it'd be a waste of money chopping your Stylance in for an only slightly newer FR TDi.

You're not gaining *that* much more, and you'll end up paying for the privilege in higher finance and insurance costs.

You'd be better off waiting for a few years, pay off the finance, and then look again at some used facelifted FRs instead.

And that's coming from someone who loves his FR TDi to bits :)

Thanks for the reply. If I had a remap, the car would be the same performance wise as a standard FR am I right? Same engine basically?

Im no modifier, I prefer the OEM look, but a remap is needed I think, TTS Roadsport are right next to me, well, 4 miles away, anyone used them here?

Ive always thought a remap is essential on a diesel as its amazing what power they release from the manufacturers crap standard map. I had mine a day before it was mapped by Revo

Being a novice when it comes to engine mods, how much is a remap?

I've got 140 Sport (Basically Stylance with sports suspension & 17" wheels).

Had a remap which was confirmed on rolling road at 185bhp! Much better to drive now & no worse on fuel either.

I'd keep what you have a get a remap & then nothing in it between yours & FR.

the 140s from factory are giving out power figures into the 150s standard anyway.
my 170 is pulling 191.7bhp atm standard, a remapped 140 will be quicker than mine due to the much higher torque figure. But i'm a modder so, i'll be getting between 225-245bhp soon with a big increase in torque after getting a stage 2 map with DPF delete. After i'm done, it will leave a mapped 140, stardard TFSI FR for dead, and then give a standard cupra a run for it's money.

But if you're not planning to get modding, then the 140 will be a better option, as the 170 has the dreaded DPF. If you decided to get a full sports exhaust you also get a nicer sounding exhaust note.

Im so uneducated, whats DPF?

So, an exhaust, remap and panel filter on mine will produce near on 200bhp ur saying?

a 140 with full exhaust and intake should get round abouts 190bhp. On very rare occasions close to 200. This is restricted by the turbo.

The 170 has a bigger turbo, but this is hindered by the DPF. This is essentially a filter that filters the black soot from the exhaust gases and is quite restrictive as doesn't let the turbo work to it's full potential.

Ok, im with you, pros and cons for both cars.

With regards lowering it, I will be getting some 18s, 225 tyres, nothing too wide.

Are Eibachs the springs to buy? I cant afford coilies or a full kit if I go for the remap/cupra bumpers
