what to use for its first clean?

Hey guys,recently bought my car and it hasnt been cleaned in the month that ive had it because of the weather,and looks like the previous owner didnt do much to keep it clean either so im here to ask what products to use to get her back to her previous glory without hurting my bank balance too much?

looking for a good shampoo,wax,trim restorer and whatever else you think i'll need...

Autoglym or Megs.

I swear by Autoglym shampoo, then microfibre dry, followed by a good going over with Autoglym Aqua Wax or Autoglym Super Resin Polish and finished with Dodo Juice Red Mist. Normally just use the Autoglym shampoo on the wheels, but have some Carplan wheel cleaner that i'm gonna try. For trim, Simoniz Back to Black, or peanut butter works well, make sure it's smooth though. Also, Muc Off Bug and Tar cleaner is meant to be quite good

then a clay the megs clay kit, you can get that from halfrauds. Nice easy clay to use.

After you will need a polish - mernza,

All seems a bit expensive but well worth it. If the previous owner hasn't taken care of the car then it might be the best bet to get it machine polished.

This is what you need to do to get good results with minimal cost.

Buy the Meguairs Surface Clay Kit. You can purchase a clay kit from Halfords for £23. This will remove contaminents from the body work and make it silky smooth. Included in the kit is a good quality microfibre and wax cleanser product. Give it a coat of the wax cleaner. This contains various cleaning agents so is well suited for what you want to do.

If you want to give the car a little more specialist treatment I can advise you in more detail of what you need to do.

thanks for all the help folks, think i'll get the clay kit and i have some left over wax which i could use after the clay kit i assume?
i also have alot of scratches on her...so would i be better....wash,t-cut, clay bar,wax?

yeh use the wax after the clay.

It will depend on how deep the scratches are really

As already stated it depends how deep the scratches are.

You could buy some Autoglym Super Resin Polish which is quite filler heavy and give the car a coat of that after the claying.

there not bad claire...there just little light ones on the rear bumper etc, should come off with a little t-cut

I wouldn't use the T-cut not really a fan of it. Go with what Jonjay say and get the super resin polish. It will much better and not to expensive.

Yea they are roughly 7-8 depending on size of the bottle.

It has very low cut 2/10 but lots of fillers and will do the job nicely. Make sure you wax on top of it to lock in the fillers. Use a pure wax not a wax that containers solvents and cleaners.
