Whirring noise from front of car :(

Hi guys! I'm new to seat cupra.net and am still learning the basics, just wanting to know if you guys have any idea what this noise could be??

My car is a leon cupra r 225 on a 55 plate. 50k on clock

Okay when I'm driving there is a wierd whirring noise coming from the front of the car sure I can hear a slight grinding noise too but only now and again, I've had some people listen for it but they say in being paranoid! But when I got the car this noise Defo wasn't there lol..... the whirring noise starts at about 20mpm and you can hear it all the way up to top speed, it isn't really loud but its annoying! When I take it out of gear or dip the clutch and I'm coasting the noise still stays? Had it to a a garage to get bearings etc checked and they all fine so now I'm clueless to what it could be! :(

at 50k i shouldnt think it but it might be the turbo bearings going

Sure it sounds like its coming from the drivers side but cant pin point it as I can only hear it when driving, if I had to take a guess I would say maybe one of the pumps but god knows. Turbo sounds sweet whilst boosting tho mate. I've seen some threads about bearings in the gearbox going I hope it's not that :/

seems like it if you are saying when you dip the clutch or leave it on idle and its not wirring i would say turbo problem. could be a something simpler like blocked turbo veins. Have you tried getting it read by VAGCOM?? might point you in the right direction

The noise is still there when idling mate, but only when the car is moving. If its just stood ticking over there is no noise but for instance say I'm going down the motorway and take it out Of gear the noise stays the same and gets lower as the car slows down, haven't had it on vag com yet but my mate says he is gonna Check it for me sometime next week I think, hope it gets sorted

I have a whirring noise from about 35mph onwards. Not louder under weight ie cornering.
Just on the speed of the wheels. Not engine revs.

Suggested to me its un even tyre wear. So the rear tyres are not perfectly round any more. A 50p shape if you will.

Will only go away properly when change all 4 tyres and get 4 wheel alignment. So Im swapping them round to scrub them all out before paying out.

Just a thought! It is bloody annoying!

Try swapping your tyres from front to back. Have seen tyres make similar noises to what a bearing would make.

Al have a go at this mate! Tyres are pretty Shite anyways and could do with being changed soon so hopefully it's just this

wheel bearing?
sound being linked directly to speed but not gearing/engine speed? so just wheels /drive shafts are constant.

I had these checked a few weeks back mate and he said they were fine! Will change them eventually but they are apparently all fine :/

I have had this on a Leon 1.4s when at idle, it's something on the cambelt. Mine is more of a ticking noise.

From my experience it could be the following
-fan/aux belt or tensioners (very possible)
-cambelt or tensioners (unlikely)
-heat sheild?
-clutch?
-air con pipe rubbing?

May be best to pop the bonnet on a slight gradient as certain things will rumble ie heat sheild engine mounts etc worth a shot, maybe if you say it's coming in at certain speeds get some one to rev slowly to 4000 rpm this will most likely eliminate lose parts my monies on the aux belt especially if it happens more in the cold
