Got a 2003 LC 1.8t
88000 miles had oil changed on average every 6-10k miles.
Blue smoke on overun :-( how can this be!!
Running revo map and decat etc
breather system changed to make sure no crank case pressure. happens with no load when going down a hill. any others experienced this? Was it valve stem seals ??

That sounds like the valve stem seals, this is happening to me as well, although my mileage is a bit higher than you at 128000 and mines two years older?

Would you do the rings while head off? Anyone know average cost of doing rings and stem seals?

does it smoke at all if you let it idle for a while? If not then valve stem seals is a likely candidate. If it's turbo seals then it will usually smoke when there is little pressure in the turbo, ie overrun or idle.
As mentioned, see if there's any appreciable oil in the pipework between turbo and intercooler.
However, it's usually the turbine end seal that will leak first, which will let oil directly int the exhaust and you won't necessarily see anything in the boost hose side

Sorry to hijack, but my my car has started to smoke as you describe it, if sitting in traffic for a while the car will start to smoke quite a lot, when before it would smoke on over run BUT my turbo was rebuilt about six months or so ago, would the seals have gone so soon?
