Hi all,

I need some help as I'm an estate agent I'm constantly in need of a car.

I had a VW golf and the gearbox broke down so i quickly bought a 1.9 TDI SEAT ALTEA STYLANCE, 2008 130,000 MILES.

I bought this in an auction and to be honest the car sounded OK for its miles done.

anyway the other day i noticed that when the car starts up there's no noise but after driving for 15 minutes there's a tappet noise. when a car comes next to me or if I'm in a narrow road i could hear it. the performance of the car isn't affected but I'm worried this might cause an issue. I've taken it to a mechanic, hes taken out the belt to see if that was the problem but the noise was still there, but due to being a bit late to the mechanics they couldn't still look. the mechanic also did say that it might be a metallic plate between the gearbox and the clutch which there is something turning might of constantly hitting that. but anyway. i just want to know if there's anyone who can help me out on why this could be and what recommendations. Thank you
