Just wondering if anyone knows if scratches can be removed from drivers window. I have a horizontal scratch that just appeared over the weekend and is just above my line of sight of the wing mirror; and wondered if anyone has been in a similar position needing to remove such scratches.

no. ive got one on my windscreen, and ive tried autoglym glass polish and whitening toothpaste. Id be interested if someone actually has a method that doesnt involve using a machine. All the detailing people ive spoke to have suggested if it bothers me to stick a nail through it and claim a new windscreen...

I removed some deep scratches on another car by hand by using smartphone screen repair. It's a paste with very fine abrasive particles. Took the edges off the scratch which catch the light and the eye. The scratch is still there but not noticeable unless you look for it

You need cerium polish for light scratches on glass, preferably with a machine. Otherwise it will take a year's effort with elbow grease to improve them.

If you can catch your finger nail on a windscreen scratch in direct line of sight then forget it, a new windscreen is the easiest and most effective cure.

After 22 years of wiper blade abuse on my Mazda I paid the insurance excess and had a new windscreen fitted. Didn't even need to smash the old one first.
