hey guys,

ive just bought a leon mk2 fr and im having issues adjusting (electric mirrors) the driver wing mirror to get a better view of the road. the farthest it goes gives me a view of the side of the car. the passenger mirror works fine.

what would you advise me to do? ive tried pushing it by hand but it wont budge almost like the glass is hitting the frame/surround.

could i pop into a mechanic or dealership to get it fixed?

cheers.

Is the surround actually in the right place? Does it look to be at the same angle as the passenger side? It almost sounds like the folding mechanism hasn't quite put it right out and so you can't move the glass to the right position.

hey, thanks for the reply.

ive checked and it seems to come out as far as the passenger side. ive tried folding them in and out a few times and it comes out the same each time.

would i be able to adjust the folding mechanism?

Is the vehicle new, new?????

It is not unheard of for the odd SEAT to slip through fitted with mirrors for a LHD vehicle (6J's were bad for it)! This mainly affects the driver’s side as the angle/amount of adjustment is insufficient.

This can be missed at PDI or by a previous owner if they were a bit vertically challenged (like me). When the driver’s seat is in a forward position there is enough adjustment to see more than just your rear quarter!

Not sure, on the 6J it was a complete unit!!! Has it ever had a mirror? Its difficult to beleive its gone so long unnoticed. Last owner might had clipped the mirror and they fit them the wrong one! I'd have someone check it out and offer advice.

Do the following to get your mechanism "reseted".

On the interior selector knob, choose the mirror you wish to correct. Then do like if you were going to close the mirrors, but do not effectively close them. Just turn the knob until they start moving inside. Repeat that as necessary until the mirror completely closes. Then proceed to cycle them a few times just to be shure.

It should solve your issue.

However if the mechanism has been strained to have this problem, it may fail in the meanwhile, or probably start making noise, you should be aware.
