Wiper Relay which one ?

Guys my wipers only have one setting and as soon as I turn them off they instantly stop, rather than returning to the bottom of the windscreen.

They are also very noisy was thinking it could by just the relay ? Question is which relay is the wiper relay?

Thanks, Davy

I'm pretty sure this would be the same in a mk3 - you can let me know if it looks familiar, I can't remember what the fuse layout was in my old car.

the relays above the fuses none of them are for the wipers, fuse 23 is for the wipers. i would have a look at the wiper motor see if the relay is on it apart from that :shrug::shrug:

Yeh I just checked on my Cordy (the one with the same front end as the MK3 Ibiza) and there's no relay in the car for the wipers, I suspect it'll be another wiper motor but you could probably get one from a polo which are fairly common in the scrappy.

Might need to ignore this looking at that diagram:)

I do remember on another car I used to have that there was a micro switch built into the motor and it was triggered as a wheel went round which controoled the cycle of each wipe, so basically the wipers came to rest at the correct place when switched off or using the interval wipe etc.:)

I just double checked mine and none of the ones there click when working the wipers, I think it must be something around the switch because you were on about it in your other thread where your pop busted the steering wheel, must've done something else in the same area. The other thing is the fuse, is it ok? If so it might be worth checking for volts at the fuse.

Is that the one with 19 printed on it? I have that but it seems to click when I turn the ignition on but does nothing if I work the wipers, bizzare. Well at least you'll know how to get the steering wheel off now, I was using a guide for the cupra but the guy had some strange clips on his, I unscrewed mine for ages and it was only when puting it back together I realsised the bolts only take a couple of turns

Yeah thats the one, i found a 19 in my dads Renault van, tried it in my ibiza and my wipers where fixed, it also controls the rear wipers.

as for steering wheel removal:
is it a case of loosening the torx off and then pulling on the central front part of the steering wheel untill it pops off, revealing the airbag and access to the main steering wheel mount ?

Got a replacement one on ebay £25 with airbag and all included, pretty happy with that at £25. So im going to need to remove my old one somehow!:think:

Yeh but did you see the pics in your other post? Don't forget the plug that's in the steering column, just a few turns on each of the torx bolts, they don't come out though.:)
