wipers keep pausing

noticed it a couple of times now. When I have the wipers on intermittent, when they reach the bottom of the down sweep, they sometimes pause for a couple of seconds before sweeping back up. Anyone else had this problem & know how to stop it?

i think its above 75 that they park at the bottom for a second and then continue

Mines does that at as well, only noticed do it a couple of times. Seem to pause top and bottom at times stupid things

Take it you have auto wipers then??

MWG is right in stating that those wipers are sensitive to speed.

They're not only pausing a little in horizontal when driving faster then approx. 120 km/h ...
they as well take a longer break vertically when slowing down to a stand still.

The ECU reduces wiper speed automatically by one interval when speed drops down below 4km/h.
As soon as you go faster than 8 km/h, the interval is reset to normal.

(should work with both regular & "auto" wipers ...
afaik the rain sensor controlled wipers only have the interval rocker switch for controlling the sensitivity of the sensor.)

yep wipers are variable on speed. If you've got full wiper but stop car, they go to intermittant. Quite clever really

Another Altea mystery solved. I noticed this delay in the wipers coming back up the other week. Now I know why.

But what's the reasoning behind it???
