Hi all.

The shine has well and truly been taken off the excitement of our incoming new Cupra ST as a direct result of a brand new Golf GTI being stolen at 2pm from our neighbour’s drive yesterday.

The scumbags scoped the house and smashed through a rear door when they knew the owners had left on foot. We’ve got footage and can see the car they came in which has gone to the police.

We are just worried that the car will bring unwelcome attention and we too will become targets.

I’ve got Ring cameras up front and back, another on its way and plan to empty the garage so we can fit it in there.

It’s just a shame you have to take Such measures just to try and make it harder for these scumbags.

What measures do you take to protect yours?

I always think that if you make it a pain in the butt they may leave it alone like steering lock, park it behind another car or in the garage.

I'm in 2 minds that if I put a ecu lock on the car and they cannot drive it away they would just come in the house and make me start it... Which I'm not a fan of.

In the end I think if they want it that much they will get it.

Maybe if you have a drive get a metal pole attached to the floor once you've parked up.

Cars can be replaced.

I went away for work the other day in a hire car (leaving mine on the drive). I still took the car keys with me. I never leave the house without them whether I'm on foot, hire car or train.

Also. Consider getting a tracker. A lot of cars are taken and parked up 1-2 streets away for a few days to see if they are tracked. Chap got his BMW back and they just left it alone once they knew it was tracked.

I like the look of the ghost security but again would force them into the house and worse torture you for the code ! It’s not unusual nowadays for such violence

Tracker, steering lock and in the garage that keeps them out of the house and makes its illogical to try and take. Even more so as you have cameras.
