Basically
They're are 2 types of fitting
a
2 x 6 pin connector
or a
8 pin Iso connector

Could anyone tell me which one I should be buying ?

Thanks
Ross

Further to investigation I think it has a 8 pin Iso Connector
Could anyone confirm this for me ?

8 pin is what I got.
I like your car pal

Went to the garage today as I swore my exhaust had a dam big hole in it
(which we haggled got money off when I bought it )
Turns out its a full stainless steel system :D

Anyway I'll blame it on you if it doesn't fit [B)]
:D

Thanks, it got attacked whilst I was away over the weekend so its looking a bit sorry for itself at the moment.

Mines fitted in the little hole under the steering wheel. Cable then runs down to the little hole under the centre console.

I just bought the XCarLink 8 pin connector and I'm wondering if anyone has any pictures of their setup, or how to install it?

I know how to connect it once I have gotten behind the center console.
But what is the best way access the back end of the radio/cd/AC controls?

From the sub/amp install thread.

removing the HU
undo the two screws at the bottom of it, i would have taken a picture of them but they are so obvious i thought even the most un experianced person would spot them (if not just under the facia pannel on the right and left there are two screws )
prize from the bottom up, and pull the facia off.

next detach the ribbon cable from the HU (NOT THE FACIA)

next remove the 4 screws marked on the picture

From the sub/amp install thread.

which slot does it go into on the back of the radio? im thinking of getting one myself but not sure where it will go in the back of the radio? pictures will be helpful thanks

Well that worked well...

It worked just fine for about 2 months or so until one day all of the sudden, it changed to radio automatically.... When I try switching back all i get is ;"CHANGER"; blinking in the display...

Anyone know how to fix this problem?

Help is of course much appreciated!

May need to check the earth on the back. Mine did this for a while in my old 1.4 then fixed itself randomly.

Thanks, will get right on that ;)
Btw, any good suggestions when it comes to attaching the earth cable and to what?
I remember not seeing many "good" places to mount/attach it in order to get good earthing.

fascia

Great instructions thanks, was just wondering if anyone knew where i could get a fascia as the stereo keeps powering its self off and would like to replace.

Thanks

Damn, still having trouble with the "Changer"/ground?! issue! :S
Tried mounting the ground several different places close to and on the control center box.
Any suggestions? :S
And another thing, I have lost the manual for my x-car link device, and i noticed that there are two cables witch seem to fit each other. I just can't remember why i shouldn't..
If anyone is on and has any kind of experience regarding this matter it would be most helpful!
Thx
