I wouldn't even believe that. According to the SEAT brochure (p11), The Nav System High requires the Technology Pack !

Thanks for that man, i knew something wasn't right.

What a lying toe rag though argh!! [:@].

I am starting to realise that buying car is a very murky business.

Paying over £20k seems a lot to me in order to get the options you want to add. It might be a good idea to look at the VW Golf GT instead?

Golf GT has a higher spec than the Leon FR and would probably be worth more than an equivalent Leon 1.4 FR in years to come. You would get a nearly new Golf GT with the current engine on Autotrader for around £19k. Just a thought....

I know the feeling, its very frustrating, especially when purchasing something as expensive as a new car, often though it's not so much they are lying - that comes later once they have your money, I believe Seat call it customer service :D- it's more that they are either just to lazy or too stupid to learn about what they are selling and rely on bullsite or just fob you off with whatever pops into their head and they think you might find plausible.

Piss is me right off most Seat sales people can't even be arsed to read up on what they are selling, it's not like they have that many product lines to learn about [:@]

They told me and probably every Leon buyer before me that you couldn't put postcodes into the mk3's sat nav system :censored:

Hey man, thanks for the suggestion, I appreciate it. I personally don't like the look of Golf's, although interior and build quality is superior to the leon. Furthermore, I am not convinced that a standard Golf GT has all the options I want. A Golf GT will also cost a hell of a lot more financially.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is how it breaks down in reality...

A Golf 1.4 TSI ACT GT (150 PS) 5-Door - 2014 (64) with no extras and 5K mileage will set you back £19,445 assuming there is no discount on offer (margins on golf's are lower).

Lets assume I go for PCP finance over 3 years with £3000 deposit and for an estimated annual mileage of 10k/year. APR = 12.9%, Fixed interest rate =6.62%

My monthly payment will be = £372
Therefore total payable for 36 months would be = 372*35+3000 = £16020
Final payment or GMFV would be = £8018

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now lets look at the brand new 1.4FR with all the options.... this will set me back £21460 (realistic estimated price via a dealer)

It will be on PCP finance over 3 years with £3000 deposit and for an estimated annual mileage of 10k/year. APR = 0%

My monthly payment will be = £278.47
Therefore total payable for 36 months would be = 247.47*35+3000 = £12746.45
Final payment or GMFV would be = £8713.28

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So as I said it's a no brainer when you do the math. The 1.4 Leon FR wins hands down, it will also be worth more in three years time. And lets be honest...its far more sexier and has less brand snobbery [B)]

 This is brilliant and has put me in a good mood again, thank you. I can recharge my batteries and go again now.. can't wait till the 8th of July when the order will be processed and I can forget bout all this numbers, specs, options malarkey for a bit and enjoy reading posts.

But you are not the first person to criticise Seat UK customer service in general, it's a well known thing now, in fact Seat came in as one of the worst performers in the UK for CS. I can't remember the specifics but remember reading it somewhere on a review.

It amazes me how Seat showrooms can be run by and employ people who can't be bothered to keep up to date with changes, products, etc. Surely they must have manufacturer updates and keynotes every quarter.

From my personal sales experience, having worked as a phone trainer, financial specialist and business advisor for big brands...it was constant learning process and meant attending countless training courses and doing assessments to maintain product knowledge alone. On top of that you have to learn how to sell, negotiate, hit KPI's and deliver good customer experience among other things.

Yet when people are parting with thousands of pounds the ethics, customer service and experience flies out the door. Trading standards don't do enough to protect the rights of UK consumers period.

haha rant over!!!

wait a sec. i can put post codes in my nav. howwww

Don't worry mate, you aren't the only one who didn't know you can use postcodes. One well known motoring mag complained about that very "omission" in one of their monthly updates on their long term 280 I believe, only to be corrected by readers when the mag hit the stands

One annoyance I do have with the postcode input however is 9 times out of 10 it comes back with "there is no street information for that postcode" or something to that effect. It will get you to the postcode but not the specific house number! Or am I missing something? Any other members find the same?

Mine neither to be fair. I have found searching for things like hotels in the sub menus will often get me to the door, even if the postcode search wouldn't let me input the street address. One of our car's little quirks I guess - after all we'd be insufferable to the rest of the motoring world if our Leons were perfect in every way. They have to build in some faults just so that we aren't done in by drivers of other cars for being constantly smug about what we drive - injury lawyers would have a field day

The navigator postcode function doesn't seem to be fit for purpose surely  it's a basic need for a navigation system to pick up UK postcodes? Am I missing something... I hope the newer cars have a software patch..

The message 'No street data for this location' after you've entered the postcode is intended to tell you there are no 'Points of interest' at that location, not that it doesn't know where it is. It works just fine!

Just beat me to that, as this postcode entry prob popped up on some other thread ages back, when it actually works perfect.

Guys can you advice on which of these three option combinations I would benefit most from....?
I will mostly be driving around town and seldom on motorway.

1. Safety Pack Plus 1 + Adaptive Cruise Control and Front Assist?

or

2. Safety Pack Plus 1 + Navigation System High?

or

3. Adaptive Cruise Control with Front Assist + Navigation System High?

Thanks in advance

I'd highly recommend the front view camera you get with the Safety Pack Plus and Adaptive Cruise Control. I tend to drive on cruise most of the time, and the front radar really makes it effortless. The front view camera for Lane Assistance and High Beam assist is also very useful, haven't seen the benefit of high beam assist, but I do keep myself amused by trying to drift out of my lane when the roads are quiet.

I personally opted not to have the Navigation System High, the standard nav was more than sufficient for my purpose, though it would have been nice to have the text reading abilities.

Personally, I'd go for option #1.

There's nothing wrong with the standard sat nav/infotainment system and I find the ACC and front assistance useful as well as the options which now make up the Safetey Pack Plus.

Is blind spot detection an option on the Leon yet?

Thanks for the reply man, I appreciate it. I can see the benefits of the Safety Pack Plus1 but not sure about the ACC as I'm not on the motorway much and so it would be somewhat obsolete. But the front assist would be handy around town.

I would probs get more out the Nav system high as it offers the 3d maps, voice control, sms and the video capabilities.

You've just answered your own question :D

I think the ACC is great as I spend 80 miles on the motorway every day. If the majority of my driving was around town then I wouldn't find it very useful at all.

Cheers man, so thats 2votes for option 1, I haven't come across blind spot detection in my research so I am guessing its not.:)
