Hi ,

I need to pick everyones brains!!

My brothers Cupra R 225 is boosting 1.2 Bar. First question is is that the standard boost pressure or is that likely to be the chip boosting higher as we are told it has been chipped but no paperwork to prove.

second question is he is of remapping but need to know if the standard ecu will take a map or is it a new ecu? in which case what do you recommend for the new ecu and who maps them near hastings/east sussex area.

Any help is appreciated!!!

Cheers in advance!

Oh and in case needed the car has an air filter and a second intercooler which is located in the front wing, if that makes any difference!

As 1.2 bar is about 17psi, and from memory the LCR boosts to either 9 or 11psi in stock mode it is remapped.
There is a secondary intercooler on the LCR as standard (one either side of the front bumper behind the fog lights). Are you sure there is another in the wing?

So it is boosting higher then normal but that could be the ECU or a chip right? Can you remap a standard ECU?

Apologies i think your right that its behind the fog lights and not in the wing (my housemates scooby has it in the wing oops)

Does a standard Cupra R really only boost 10psi? My standard normal cupra boosts 10 according to my guage?

Edit....I guess thats because they have a bigger turbo.

A standard ECU will take remaps without a problem, no new ECU required. I have never heard of anyone replacing an OEM ECU for a remapped ECU ever.

So the standard one can take a remap, ok thats asks the question how much and who and where etc! I have heard that you have to buy a license to remap though so what would the costs be?

What do you mean by this as i have seen people with other ecus like Simtecs etc.

They would be for higher stages of tuning.

the mapper will have the already have the license, all you would pay for is the mapping process.

Your looking at between £300-£400 for a map.

Might be a bit far for you but AmD will do you a map with before and after rollong road runs to show the gain's, Whoever you choose go for a vag spcialist and NOT an Ebay jobie
