it's hard to tell as every drive has either been pissing it down or with kids on board. Feels tighter for sure and only a tad of vibration on startup and tick over. Not bad like people claim them to be at all. Need to get wheel alignment done as they should have settled now. Then give it a good hiding and il report back again

Need to do the rear beam next as they looked shot too!

Just been for hunter wheel alignment.

Now we are all back in the green today has been the first chance to really test with it being nice, dry and child free. And the verdict is spot on. The car feels so tight and handles just how I want it. It's rigid and steering is point and shoot, it's like it's on rails. No sloppiness in the steering at all. Total transformation so the other bushes clearly were at the end of their lives. Ear to ear smiles today.

Yes really happy. Another thing off the list lol.

Yeah they will stay on until next month maybe when it warms up and there is less salt and grit and il pop the TDs back on

Sorted this too. Boot seal had a split in it and was rusting and I was worried it was the boot lip. Got another one ordered and pulled the old one off. Luckily it was the metal spine inside the rubber and not the boot, phew...

Then popping the new one on.

Once pushed on as best I could it took a lot of perusing with a rubber mallet to get it firmly in the right place so the boot would shut properly. Another niggly little thing off the list

You're taking a real good care of this great motor, mate.

It's great to see, that you're not only upgrading it with top products, but also sorting out all the mechanical issues.

Thums up, mate :)

Thanks very much.

Sadly progress will probably slow up a lot this year due to wedding plans. I can't complain though as last year has seen alot of transformation to the car.

Diff and clutch will be going in at some point this year so watch this space.

Other possibilities are rear beam being bushed to match the front and a set of Recaro oem seats if the right ones come up.

Other than that I will be enjoying her, keeping her clean and attending a few shows

Finally got an R badge that I was happy with. Didn't want the original red one so went for a mk2 one instead to match my cupra lettering.

Sweeeeeeeeeeet! Where'd you get the LSD/selector forks from in the end?

All of the gearbox parts were from Darkside developments. The other day a friend had 5-6 fork snap so that's now being added to my list, they do a reinforcement kit for this rather than a replacement fork. May as well do it all while its out.

Done a couple of little niggling things that needed doing but have not got round to.

Removed the last pipe for the evap system off of the throttle body at last and capped it off and capped the Tip off too.

My pillar pod has also been driving me mad with rattling so I took it off and fabric and foam lined the problem areas. It's now snug as a bug.

Just sealed a deal on something else today that will now put the gearbox and clutch bits on hold but well worth it. Watch this space....

So this is something I have been working on for the last week. My mate got some serious carbon seats and no longer required his interior so I became the very lucky owner of a set of oem Recaro 2+2.

I have always wanted a set but the right ones have never popped up.

Needed a blooded good clean so went to sorting the fronts out first as I wanted to get them in.

Before:

So out came the trim cleaner and detailing brushes and I sorted out the plastics:

Then the serious work on the fabric. I sprayed them in gtechnic apc diluted 10:1 with water and agitated with my autofinesse fabric pad before wiping over with a terry cloth then wet vac before drying overnight.

I done three passes using the above method until I was happy the terry cloths were wiping away no more grime and the vac was brining up clean soapy water. Such a difference.

I then used a coat of gtechnic i1 fabric protector to finish:

Very happy with the finish. So went about fitting them.

4fa1edffaf544f2feaf33a76dde22fe2.jpg

Such a difference side by side.

And took the chance to Hoover the floors properly too.

And that was one side done.

Next was driver side which needed a bit of the lower trim swapping with my originals as it had a crack and the seat belt plug had faded but once swapped over in went the driver side.

Matches my boys recaro nicely now haha

Then onto stripping the rears out ready.

1e88c9336194899418450bf0994e2ddb.jpg

Quite like this look and if it wasn't for the kids I would consider keeping it like this.

I will be sorting the rear bench out his week so watch this space. The interior is nearly where I want it.
