I use a mixture - if I know I’m going to be stationary for a bit, I’ll move into neutral or even park. If it’s a quick stop, I’ll keep in drive. I turn stop start off as soon as I get in the car now. I can definitely feel the clutch biting when stationary and in drive with the brake fully pressed. There’s a vibration and pressure change in the brake pedal when switching between D and N.

EE briefly covers this topic. Personally I would keep it in D, the electronic systems are quite complicated these days to keep everything safe, and the gearbox is 'ready' to be in first gear with just a clutch engage
I just don't like being in neutral, DSG or manual...

Generally put in N and apply brake. Longer periods will place in P. Always disengage the start / stop system as must put load on the starter motor and battery?
