Flat spot in third.

So the question is what produces a flat spot.
Seems to have just started in third between say 3500 and 4500 rpm there is a total lack of pull as if boost very low.
Then power comes on again.
I know it's an old car with 150k on it but has always been perfect.
Amy thoughts?

Have same issue and now it's all become clear....clutch has started to slip from about 3.2k or when turbo hits its peak torque I guess.
Couple of weeks it's been having this flat spot in 3/4/5/6 so haven't pushed it to much and then couple of days ago she slipped. I just hope I don't have to replace the flywheel as well.
Will go smf if I do replace it for longevity.
You may not have the same issue btw I'm just saying what I had over the past few weeks and end result

Cheers Andrew good to know but not so good for your pocket.
At least you don't pay for labour. Biggest cost out there.

Reason I got this car, so I don't have to pay labour. Parts are costly at best so labour is a big no no and it really kills me I know so much about coding but know nothing about mapping all that time lost learning java lol could of been making some silly money buy now .

A company called quantum tuning seems to be the school/franchise side of tuning in the UK. From what I have read over the past few hrs they have many companies under there belt here and abroad. But I love github and there is plenty of info on there. Check sum seemed to be an issue but that's history now so does seem possible to do but from what I have written above...there won't be money to be made on this. To many like minded people already lol.
Bragging rights though...be like 1000 points haha

There is a big list of companies linked to them. They don't just do the generic maps either.

Yup the guy said it was one of two stage ones. His was a plus! Very la di da.
I'll check is was them.
Said the guy tweeted it himself. Don't know how much I believe.
It's quicker. But I don't think he has the figures the guy told him he achieved.
I'll find out more.

I wouldn't waste your time or money mate. Anyone can upload a "stage 1" map to a car with the right cable and software..... That's a completely different thing to actually mapping one for real.

Mapping one for real takes extensive knowledge of both engines and the bosch ME7.5 ECU , (in the case of our cars) niether of which they would teach you on their "training" courses.

If it's only in 3rd that's quite strange........ the only thing i can really suggest is to run some logs to see whats going on.

They seem to be part or host to

Either way I won't be taking part in any of this.
I think these are offering Joe blogs the chance to be a "mapper".
And setting the price of £250-£300 per map is very interesting.

slightly off topic maybe?, I think my clutch slips once warmed up as if I don't accelerate too hard it boosts normal but if I do accelerate hard then it kind of looses power then comes back, mine boosts to 15psi but drops to either 5 or 10.

What car do you Have again? Cupra or cupra r? 5psi sounds like limp..or leak.
Today on the way home no clutch slip at all, only difference is weather is a lot cooler, may play a part I guess but still needs doing either way.
Mine spikes to 21 and sits 16/17psi till I change gear.
If you're psi is dropping off then there is a leak.
Mine is a ko3 cupra btw.

its a Cupra r , its has been mapped to 286 and 330 torque, it only does it if I don't drive sensibly, it had a 6 paddle clutch on it when I first got it but as I sat In a lot of traffic to and from work I couldn't get on with it so had the original one put back on.

330 torque is the issue and why the 6 paddle clutch was good for putting that in it's place.
A new stock clutch won't last long with that amount of torque.
Also be very careful as 300ft/lb Will bends rods.

Yeah i agree with andrew on both counts. 330ft/lb is way over the rating of a standard clutch and well past the safe limit of standard rods too.

I am planning on a new clutch asap as it does boost around 15 psi but I don't want to push my luck, I still have the paddle clutch but I really want something that I can control in heavy traffic
