I think I read that VAG didn't pay for the TMC license from about 2005/6 onwards...

In any case, TMC only works in the UK on the motorways...

I just installed a SEAT version mfd3 into my 08 model year Leon. A few issues have arised - will appreciate all answers:
1. I have factory Bluetooth on the car - can i use the navi to dial numbers, answer calls etc.?
2. I have the factory USB port on the car - the navi plays the songs but the quality is just awful - anything i can do about that?
3. from where can i copy things to the HDD (and what things, CD, DVD, MP3 etc?)
thnx

1. This requires a different bluetooth module, which you proably dont have. (pressing the phone button on the mfd would bring up this page if you had it)
2. The ground connection for the AUX may be in a differnt place in the MFD rather than your old headunit.
Both should have a picture with the connections on, so compare where the AUX connections are.
3. Cant remember, but its not too hard.

the first problem has been discussed on here alot. Is is because you have an older car, pre 07 or maybe 08, so this happens. It done this on my 06 car.

Thanks a million gor the guide Dan....

Hardest thing was getting the old one out like you say.... its a bugger!!!!

Bloody Halfords didnt have the right bolts for the Unuts i bought too....gggrrrr

The Unit doesnt seem to sit right back as it should in my car... is that a common problem???

havent tried to put the fascia on yet as no point cos its not held in securely!!!

Absolutely fantastic Unit, well pleased with it

I think maybe yes.... like i said i havent got the bolts but it doesnt seem to sit right back and touch the Unuts... so im thinking maybe i need to do some slight tinkering behind.....

Just for reference i stuffed the GPS reciever up into the gap above where the unit sits and the signal seems fine..... i know its not as pretty as your route behind the dash etc but whos is ever gonna know... oh everyone now i guess...... :banned:

Hey, the photos on DanGB's satnav guide at the start of this thread have disappeared on my screen - anybody else got the same problem ?

Also, a general question, has anyone fitted a MFD3 to a Seat and not had the MFD clock problem ?

OK NickP whats the secret ?

I have a March 07 FR TFSi with factory bluetooth. I have the option of Seat or VW MFD3 from Tommycupra. Which unit do you have ?

Any other things I should do/look for ?

NickP,
Do you know if MY07 cars are OK ?
Also the Seat unit does not have the SD card reader compared to the VW unit - how do you download your music files to the HD ?

I think with an 07MY car you will have the clock issue.

You just pop in an MP3 CD or DVD and you can copy the files across to the HD.

If you check the 10th digit in your chassis number you should be able to see if yours is MY07 or MY08
