recently popped the head gasket on my 1.4 8v,im gona do it before selling as im on the hunt for a cupra now.But it made me think back to a posting i seen on a mobile car forum guy with a polo same think it was a 1.4 or 1.6 8v,saying needed more power, more torque, more revs, smoother delivery etc etc.quite a few advised to hunt for an equivilent 16v head of same engine size and fit that. Can this actualy be done on these engines? they made it sound as easy as:head on,16v timing belt on,DONE! surely its not as easy as that, anyone had any experience?

base engine is the same it will fit but will need a few mods to let it work
but youll need the loom and ecu to let it work as well as manifolds etc etc etc

Yeah i gotta say it don't sound too good at doing, it's not really worth all the effort for a 1.4 engine anways, i've just mine as standard and focused on the body.

anyways if your gona go to the bother of sourcing a 16v head, why not just get the whole engine and use that,be loads easier

i would av thought the 16v versions would be 100.not that it matters if i can find a 16v cupra somewhere and have 150
