If you want 200 bhp in petrol you need a minimum of Leon FR or a Leon Cupra at 240 bhp
(engine type is also quoted as 2.0 TFSI)

No you dont. There was a limited run of 2.0TFSi Sports like Dan GB has with the same engine and turbo with 185PS. These are basically as per the FR without the FR bumpers, trim or wheels and the power is only lower thanks to different level of factory tuning.

I bow to your superior knowledge, but as you have stated a Sports at 185PS (as built) won't produce the 200 BHP required

It does - I believe most of them produce similar r/r figures to the FR and I also understand dealer ECU flashes gave them the same code as the FR (the only difference). Regardless, tuned, they give the same numbers as the FR ;)

I don't want to split hairs over the accuracy of manufacturer ratings, and I am sure you are right, but the poster just wants to
get the right model presumably based on the manufacturer/dealer declared ratings and then take it from there - doesn't he/her?

They asked for help and they have got it plus another option - the Sport

im a him for refernce. cheers... so there is a turbo version? now what spec should it have fr running gear? shed alittle more light please!!!!

There are two turbo versions of the 2.0 TFSI petrol: the FR with the K03 turbo giving approx 200bhp and the Cupra - with K04 turbo giving approx 240bhp.

The FR is lowered 7mm compared to the less sporty models and the Cupra is another 7mm lower still.

Both models have above average levels of gadgetry and trim - comfy sports seats, cruise, etc - but you'll want to make sure you get factory Bluetooth as that option includes a much better dash display allowing various options to be fiddled-with easily (i.e. without bothering with VAG-COM). I believe the Cupra comes with xenons as standard but I'm not 100% sure on that. The Cupra has various uprated components such as aluminium suspension parts and strengthened engine components, so is probably the better choice if you will be seeking to modify for even more power later on.

Both the FR and Cupra have a sporty ride quality although the FR is reported as being 'crashy' more often (even though it's not as low, oddly). Given that you've already got a mk1 Cupra, I wouldn't think that the ride quality of either should bother you though.

most of the Leon higher end models make over book atated bhp figures anyway , so even though it might be qouted as 185 bhp it will probably be nearer to the magic 200 bhp.

Yup, search is your friend here - for pics as well. You can order a new fascia piece with a standard double-din hole in it, so I believe. I've found the oem headset is good enough, though. There's too much noise in the cabin from road/engine to bother about hi-fi IMHO.

The road noise really depends on the tyres you have , i have dynamatted my front doors and installed a high end system and the sound is fantastic , dont really here the engine / road noise at normal listening levels.
