Just been speaking to the dealer about the delivery of my Cupra tomorrow and he reckons if I ordered one now I would be looking at build week 49 which is December... Sounds like I fell lucky.

SEAT normally reckon around 12 weeks for a factory build. At least you'll get it as a 57 reg. Probably better it coming in mid Septmber and beating the 1st September rust, meaning they are longer to PDI and prepare your car properly.

My new candy cupra:whistle: should be ready for the 1st september, they expect it to arrive sometime in august, factory closures permitting, so if it does come early, they're gonna do all the pdi stuff before the rush, just leaving the wash till last. mind, i've heard a rumour that they're only closing the factory for 2 weeks now instead of the original 4, so we may all have a pleasent suprise.

I know its not an FR, but was ordered begining of june, and thought it might be a good yardstick for timings.:funk:

Sounds almost exactly the same as my FR order, car was ordered begining of June, the dealer says it is being built next week and they will get it around the 20th August for collection on the 3rd of Sep as a 57 plate. Ive just sold my Fabia VRS so it cant come too soon!!!!

Guys, unfortunately I think it first week in Nov may be true. The dealer I got my car from on Saturday reckons a Cupra would now be build week 49, so maybe the FR is also suffering delays.

My car got delayed and at that time the manager stated that I would be looking at 12 to 16 weeks for a build to order, if I didn't go with the order I had already placed.

My Candy White FR with a few other bits was ordered in the first couple of weeks of May. Build week 27 - am waiting for confirmation it now exists, but expected delivery was Sept 3rd.

This allowed for the importing and the fact that anything arriving during August they didn't wish to deliver on 07 plate.

Seems a long time, but over half way there now........

for some reason they had some at the port (wherever that is, hopefully not a field ) last weekend when we went in to order our FR TFSi, and we'll be able to get it at the end of this month all going well.

must have been lucky..

I think the SEAT business model is that generally they build a batch of cars for delivery over the next few months to put in a stock pool. But not in the sense that other manufacturers do, where they are left for years. (Leon Cupra's are an exception to this and are generally build to order).

As far as I know they generally do a range of colours for each model but not options. If you look at the back of the brochure it says any options apart from metallic paint will mean the car is subject to a 12 week minimum delivery time.

I was told when I ordered my Cupra that I could have had an FR almost immediately, as there are plenty already built ready to be registered.

A dealer will also try to get one from another dealer by doing a swop rather than put a new build order through.
