As per my previous post I have just removed the Fisher Price CD player and replaced it with an RCD310 LED version.

I have added a fused switchable live from the fuse box an wired it into PIN 16 so that it powers up and functions correctly. :D

I also bought an ipod charging cable from ebay which connects fine into the quadlock connector. The RCD310 had the aux in function enabled and I have set it to ON.

Thing is I do not have any ipod sound, I am unsure if the cable works OK or not at this stage, it's wired in correctly, but my question is, do I need to change something in VAG COM / VCDS to enable AUX even though it seems to be working on the actual unit?
It seems odd I would need to do this, but I guess the more modern setups are a bit of a mystery until you are used to them.

Or do I need to do anything to register the fact that I have changed the radio itself even though it works?

Also, I have no sound in the Right Front door, no tweeter or main. This never worked on the previous CD player either, wires seem to be intact both ends, would this be a CANBUS error possibly?

SOMEONE HELP!!! cheers.

some help , well a little any way i dont think the speakers are connected thru the canbus at all , just straight out the back of the HU to the doors , sounds like you have a broken wire or loose plug some where in the speaker wires

sadly cant help with the rest hope some one else can

Hi mate, thanks for the reply, I had wondered that, it makes sense as the amp would be onboard.

I managed to use my little bro's VCDS last night and scanned the car and radio.

Right front speakers both show up as "open circuit" as does the aux connection.

I checked the door speaker and it is plugged in, I didn't remove the unit and try to trace the wires, it's either got to be in the door or somewhere under the dash!

I am guessing that the aux cable is no good either, but have to check that again with my mate who installed the power and earth leads as mu multimeter has died.

Had a browse at your build, some nice touches going on there.. I like the idea of using the false floor for a sub.

you should be able to check the wire on the back of the head unit plug i think the brown multiway plug , brown red (pos front right ) & brown black ( neg front right)

maybe use a multimeter or continuity tester to check to behind the speaker in the door , that way you should see where the break is ,

glad you like my build btw that sub is just the job !

Cheers, will try and figure it out, we're having a baby any day so at panic stations at the moment, but I am playing the waiting game at the mo so squeezing car fiddling in now and then.

This is the adaptor I bought, alos say open circuit, anyone seen these used - no pins to swap or anything?? Earthed it on the main torx screw behind the stereo and it seems fine to me.

if the tweeter wire was off, the other main speaker would still work, due to the wiring being in parallel yes?

No solution to the speaker and had to remove the RCD310 as everyone was right, even with a switchable live, the unit flattened the bloody battery after 36 hours!
