Server upgrade notice.

You may of noticed we popped off the line last night. Marts pressed ahead with the new server transition.

We have moved SCN over to our new faster box we bought earlier this year, some may experience DNS propagation issues for the next 24 hours or so, but I think most people will be back on stream by now.

There maybe some further outages/downtime over the coming days and possibly weeks (ie fitting it in when we get time). As we will now look at upgrading other software and start making tweeks etc.

But on the whole disruption should be limited. I can't always pre-warn you of downtime because Marts will jump on a job when he gets time and often won't tell me in advance. So you'll just have to bear it for the moment, more often than not though you will get some notification that the forums are down on the holding page.

However things so far seem to have gone very well (touches wood ) and when most people find their way back to the forum we can see start to gauge how well it copes in comparison to the old box.

Early signs indicate it's much snappier at page loads.

Some things worth trying to speed up the DNS transfer, clear your cache files, force refresh.

Power cycling your DSL modem/router or cable modem etc.

My email notfication no longer works for post replys and Pm's

Ahhh.....well mine doesn't work but my emails are working.

If anyone else on AOL reads this be good to know if yours works or its just mine.

I think there could be a problem with people on AOL as I changed my email earlier to my other AOL email and it said as I've changed my email I'd need to click on the link that you'd send me.........but I didn't get a emailed link so got locked out where you can only post in the help section.........I clicked back to get on my user CP and changed it back to my normal AOL email and it done excatly same thing.

I've now made up a hotmail email that worked straight away.

Hope that makes sense? May not be a problem with everyone on AOL but I thought I'd point it out

- we have more problems with AOL users & hotmail users than any other for registration & receipt of emails

No didn't go in either of my spam folders but it works ok with my hotmail email.
