hello all,

I have decided to call my car smokey after the way the reg plate almost spells it. I have decided to do the following simple mods:

  • Chrome Surrounds for vents
  • Chrome dial surrounds(unsure what do you think?)
  • Kenwood KDC-BT8044U Headunit
  • Chrome gear gaitor surround
  • Seat Genuine Leather Steering wheel(does that accomadate an airbag)
  • Gearknob Seat sport one

Thats what i have planned hopefully for the summer. Also maybe if i can afford to i am going to get my seats retrimed. Half leather hopefully. any other ideas for my 1.2 reference sport

Have a look in my readers ride - http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=210347 - I've done most of these interior mods, also look on ebay for a Golf Sunglasses holder to replace your drivers side grab handle.
I'd imagine you'd get a leather steering wheel for less without an airbag, although the airbag for that would be a specific shape and look - expect to pay well over £100 all in for it.
Vent rings and gear surround come in around £30, gear knob expect to pay anything between £30 and £100 for one depends where you get it from. Chrome dial surrounds I've only seen on German Ebay and cost around £26 delivered.
There are fitting guides in the FAQ section for all chrome interior parts.

just now i am happy. insurance is expensive. some of the things i want to do i cant because i am crap at fitting them. your chrome dial surrounds look cracking. the ones i was going to get didnt look like that when fitted. infact all the things i want to fit i wont be able to do myself as i cannot grasp the car fixing and tking apart scenarios. would end up costing me more lol. so if you know any good garages that are cheap. i would be grateful.

It's a very similar colour to mine, although mine might be a bit more pale. Bit hard to say from the pictures.

I think yours looks very nice as it is, it's got a number of mods already on it that I've yet to do (I've not had the car long) like colour coded mirrors, facelift bumpers, alloys, stubby aerial etc.

If you're worried about insurance costs, go for some interior mods to start with. Chrome rings and stuff, chrome tax disc holder etc. That's what I've got to do being a young'un!

yeah being young sucks. Girlfriend is not into the white and blue theme. she is more into the black and blue look which someone stated earlier in the post. just got money so going to get the headunit fitted tomorrow. going to see about seat fitting the leather steering wheel. see how that goes.

cheers anyway. advice is always good

Hey, my car is the same colour as yours and as previously mentioned, it is called Brisa Blue. Quite a rare colour. I was also wondering what colours would go with this colour and i think prob gloss black is the best option. Think that steering wheel will set you back quite a lot of bucks, especially if you are getting seat to do the work. Maybe try your local scrap yards for a sport model, they came with leather steering wheel as standard. Where abouts you from?
