Stone chips - easy/cheap fixes?

Hi all,

I've noticed that the nose + bonnet of the car seem quite susceptable to stone chips. I'm doing more and more motorway driving and when I last washed the car, I really did notice some of the marks. Some obviously polish out with a bit of effort but others have gone through the layers of paint & undercoat.

I've used a small stone repair chip kit from Halfords with body coloured paint before, but I wasn't overly impressed with the matching of the paint, so I just used some sealer to prevent rust.

Basically I wondered if anyone else has found this to be a prob + any advice on prevention / cure.

Cheers

After washing, wax the front of the car... I normally put more wax on the front bumper/bonnet area than anywhere else.

Some places can make you a chip kit based on your paint code too.

have you considered using a service like chipsaway.co.uk
my old Celica had had that done and the colour was a perfect match (not sure how good they are on metalic paint)

A mate of mine had his bonnet re-laquered after touching up his stone chips.

They put "plastisizer" in to the laquer to make it semi flexible (like they do for plastic pannels)

His bonnet seemed to resist stone chips very well.
