Vag-Com Lead

Done some searching but nothing answered my question....

I am just looking at downloading the trial version of Vag-Com for my 2001 ibiza.

Found some cables on ebay but reading the vagcom site it says only their cables are compatible with the latest version 7 software (required for vista). Also some of the cables actually state supports upto version 409.

Is this true? Anyone got their ebay cable working with latest versions of VagCom, i didnt want to be paying silly money for the cable when the ebay ones are only around £15

The ebay ones will only support old versions of vag-com e.g. 409.1. This is what a lot of people are using including myself

The ones from ross-tech will support the latest version

I'm sure there's a thread on this in the VAG-COM forum that says you have to run the latest software release with Vista IIRC

I have downloaded version 409.1 and it installed and sort of works with vista.

Bought the cable, just need to wait for it to come. If it doesnt work i will try and get a older laptop with xp or 2000 on it.

you could just put xp on your existing laptop? or im sure you could be clever enough to have both

Its not my laptop. However if all else fails i can just run virtual pc and install XP on that
