Warranty query on Ibiza

Hi

Just posted this on services forum but doesn't seem to be much happening.

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=69823

Anyone help out with some detail on the Seat warranty (or on the point of law regarding buying a car with dodgy lights!) I'd appreciate any info you could provide. Also, anyone know if a garage HAS to provide some sort of warranty by law when they sell a car? The garage I bought the car off were reluctant to give anything official saying that the Seat warranty was far more cover than they were able to give and so it was pointless offering additional cover.

Cheers

seems to me that seat crewe are at fault.

you could go back to dealer you brought from, but they dont sound too helpfull and would probably act as a middle man between you and crewe!

yes you could go down the not fit for intended use, but again i think this would end up back at crewe seeing they were paid to service it.

Thanks Andy,

Don't suppose you know what a Seat 'service' comprises? Would they be meant to pick up a headlight fault? Or the fact that I also need new discs and pads on rear wheels (as I also found out today!)? Or is it just a case of draining oil, and replacing with new oil and a new filter?

I would make this the dealers problem, as you have the greatest chance of sorting out with them - i.e. statutory rights. Then if that option fails, go to Seat.

Nick, have replied to your other thread. Would have thought the discs and pads etc would have been found on the service that the Seat dealer did, as even when mine goes in for a 10k annual service they give back a ticksheet which also has boxes on it to indicate pad/disc wear etc. The web pages and info I have put in my reply to your other thread will also cover this..

Just to let you know how this panned out,

I managed to get Seat Crewe to ring the garage where I bought the car (saved me going back and forth between them so thanks to Phil at Seat Crewe for that!). After their conversation Seat Crewe admitted the work would be their liability and subsequently carried out the repair to the headlamp. I had a call from them about 2 days later asking if I was happy with the treatment and service offered, etc. Obvioulsy this was a rhetorical question as when I pointed out that the work was good however since leaving the Seat Crewe forecourt my indicators no longer 'click when they're on' and the headlamp buzzer that comes on when you open the driver's door no longer sounded, she couldn't get off the phone quick enough!
Fortunately the good guys at Seat Warrington pinned it as the dash clock and are gonna fix it under warranty.

Reagrding service breakdown, all I got was a recipt showing oil, oil filter, etc and labour plus a few ticks in the service book. Ah well. Headlamps and brakes are now working fine and I'm a happy bunny again

Seat Crewe

Ive had lots of fun with seat crewe, and odly enough my indicators and warning buzer stoped working not long after they changed my engine under warnty on my 100ps 1.4sport. if you get that fixed let me know what it is as its sort of creepy with no indicator ticking sound let alone the fact that ive left the lights on a few times... good luck with getting the ticking sound back.

I know it's not really related but I had some warranty work done on my car when I got it (some paint done on drivers sill and rear window replaced). Last week I had to have my car sprayed in work cos the paint came clean off the drivers sill, and went to replace my spare wheel today and the wheel well is full of water where the back window they replaced is leaking! So thanks a lot SEAT! :censored:
