Wheel stud length?? help!!

I have changed over my wheels to some RS6 wheels, i am slightly concerned abput the stud length, when i had the standard and RS6 wheels next to each other i measure the distance of the stud protruding from the back of the wheel, the the RS6's were about 3mm shorter, is this ok???, i still got atleast 5 turns of thread in the hubs with the RS6's.

I can get a longer set tomorrow if need be, but don't want to shell out cash when not needed, as i'd also need locking ones too.

5 turns on 1.5 pitch thread is 7.5mm engagement which is'nt very much.
M14 thread and I would want to see minimum full thread engagement, ie 14mm nearer 10 turns.
