Wireless Android Auto - Works!

It only works on vehicles on the correct software. Many of the ones lacking the feature aren't. Seat/Cupra haven't yet released the update to bring all of the older units upto date

This isn't current doable on most vehicles. Only vehicles build from mid November 2021 have the correct software for wireless android auto
I'd assumed that myself.

We really need a table that shows software release against what you can do. I know fully equipped people with VCDS / Obdeleven are waiting for a release. If they could they would.

Hands up for someone to write a resource on this. I don't have mib3. It just needs a simple Excel type of table with release marked as what can be done or not. Then we just refer to it.

That's why I said Mib3. My car was delivered in Jan 2021 and OBDII works just fine getting AA wireless working.

It's simple for the Formentor/Leon 😊. Ibiza,Tarraco & ateca have different units

16xx only supports wireless Carplay. Doesn't show heated seat settings while using full link. Part number ends B

17xx & 18xx support wireless carplay & wireless AA. Shows heated seat settings while using full link. Part number ends D or later.

16xx cannot currently be updated to 17xx/18xx, update to 1810 is coming soon

17xx can be updated to 18xx

Are we sure sure that all those possible upgrades will be free from Seat / Cupra or need the good services of a retrofitter such as yourselves. Depends whether it's acknowledged that there was some defect for it to be free. This one comes back to the ambiguity of how the cars were first sold and what the level of bugs were in the infotainment unit. Possibly a wait and see unless it's one of the ones that just need AAW toggling on via coding as per the thread.

Hi guys,

Sorry to poke this old thread, just wondering if there was any update on the SW update to enable Wireless AA?

I am in the market for a new style Leon in the UK and want to know how to make sure Wireless Android Auto will work!

Did anyone yet successfully receive this update or any ETA?

Thanks!

All cars on 16xx can be updated to the latest software by dealers/independent workshops

All cars on 17xx/18xx/19xx (not out yet) are updated OTA

For any of them with Full Link, wireless can be enabled (for vehicles with telematics, which is all UK. Hit and miss elsewhere)

Is there an update available from 1790 to 1896? If so, is it dealer only or OTA?

I've not seen any OTA updates since my free year expired, so this might be the case. It's not going to make me sign up, the software and it's remote features are trash and no update, other than the one carried out by the dealer to the main ECU, actually fixed or improved anything.

Gonna wait until it's one and only service at two years, have them do it all in one go and then live with it until I can finally get rid of it.

I think it is the case

Just checked my girlfriend's Tarraco,
It did an OTA update to 0809 when she first bought it and got 1 month free. Hasn't updated since it expired, latest update is 0836 so I'll be performing that manually today

I have a May 2021 registered Leon that just had 1896 software upgrade , wireless Android auto working perfectly , Samsung A52s 5g phone Also had a notification on infotainment screen , software upgrade available and I assume OTA , didn’t have time to check what software info was . I recently bought car after software was upgraded and had no sat nav, full link ,cruise control hardly anything worked but local main dealer happy to sort out everything under warranty ( They didn’t do 1896 software originally) Car is now superb to be in . Had 3 Leon’s and a Ibiza before this .
Only thing I don’t have is radio station logo’s. I don’t have Seat Connect subscription

Hi guys, just paid deposit on 21 plate Seat Leon FR Sport from Seat Uk hopefully have her in a couple of weeks!

Found this thread as was interested to see if wireless android auto would work (haven't actually seen the exact car only test drove a similar 20 plate)

Is there anyway of knowing which unit I have B or D without getting the car?

There is a software update to upgrade B units stuck on 16xx to 1896, which should add wireless AA for units that already have full link with wired AA

Quickest way to tell is if the top bar says Clima in the middle instead of just a fan icon with a number

Thanks Dan, does the update need to be done in the workshop?

Yes the update will need to be done in a workshop if yours is a B unit(16xx). I believe it's part of a tpi/recall.
