SEAT and CUPRA UK celebrate a successful 2023 with the best Q4 on record

Joint results saw a total of 5,711 new car registrations in best-ever December

SEAT and CUPRA UK are celebrating the brands’ best Q4 on record following the announcement of the 2023 new car registration data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT)*.

Jointly, SEAT and CUPRA UK saw the brands’ best-ever December, with 5,711 new cars registered.

Individually, both CUPRA and SEAT have seen impressive year-end results. CUPRA UK achieved 25,658 new car registrations, an increase of 78.39 per cent from 2022, solidifying its position as the fastest-growing brand in the UK for the second year in a row.

CUPRA UK passed multiple milestones in 2023, too. The CUPRA Formentor, CUPRA’s most popular model, reached 25,000 registrations since its launch in 2021 back in September, whilst the 10,000th CUPRA Born, the brand’s first all-electric car, was also registered that very same month.

In the same year, it registered its 425,000th SEAT Ibiza**, SEAT UK delivered strong 2023 figures at 32,177, resulting in an increase of 45.33 per cent when compared to 2022.

“What an absolutely phenomenal end to the year! The joint force of the SEAT and CUPRA brands, with better supply to our market, meant the team could deliver our best December – and our best Q4, ever on record.

“The appeal of the CUPRA brand continues to attract new members to the Tribe, breaking records in every month of the year, with 80 per cent growth on 2022 and, I am delighted to say, retaining its mantle as the fastest-growing brand in the UK, for the second year in a row.

“And SEAT is in no way the poor relation to this success story; with a consumer offering in 75 per cent of the market, 2023 saw the brand achieve more than a 45 per cent year-on-year increase in new registrations.

“I’m hugely proud of this result, and with the launch of some stunning new models on the horizon, I can’t wait to see what records we will set together in 2024.”

Marcus Gossen, Director of SEAT and CUPRA UK

To add to the milestone achievements, 2023 saw a flurry of awards wins for CUPRA models. The CUPRA Born won at both the What Car? Car of the Year Awards 2023 and Carbuyer Best Car Awards 2024 voted ‘Best to drive’ in the small electric car category and Best Small Company Car, respectively.

At the same awards, the CUPRA Formentor collected Best Coupé SUV for the second year running at the What Car? Awards, and the Best Hot SUV at Carbuyer – the third year in a row it has collected this accolade.
