Hi Guys
Temperature just shot up to 120 on the way home when accelerating so it went into limp mode. So just a guess (after reading about 10 write ups) think the pumps gone I’m in the Berkshire area so two closest to me SMC Seat and Camberley Seat. SMC Quoted £400 inc belt and Camberley quoted £265 just for the pump. Have also emailed Seat UK to see if they will contribute fingers x

Why when times are hard just after xmas do these bloody things go wrong!!![:@]

Car= Seat Cupra 180, registered June 2003 just out of warrantee grrr. No mods 28k on the clock

Questions are: -
1 Is it worth getting the belt done at the same time
2 Are there any other dealers around here you guys know who will do this cheaper??
3 what do you think the likely hood of me getting some money from Seat UK??

Any advice is appreciated

Cheers Ian

1 -Yes
2 - have a search again, what about AmD and buy the parts yourself
3 - It's always worth a go but don;t hold you breath

water pump ~£35-£45 for metal impellor one.
worth replacing cambelt and tensioner pulley @ same time

well, when i had my audi a3 done, for a new water pump, the mechanic suggested i do the belts at the same time as they would come off, instead of replacing them with the old one, decied to put the new one instead. Well better safe than sorry,

cost me total of £175 quid, supply and fit of belts and pump. the new pump, make sure it has the metal blades, not the cheap plasticy type, they better

lol AmD are near oxford is that right?? Would have to drive at 40 the entire way about 60 miles.
Man this sucks why?? why now

Only had the car about 10 months do you usually get a dealer warranty 12 months or something?? got it from Seat dealer

well when i dropped it off 2him 2find the problem, he goes the water pump has failed, he told me it would cost this much for every thing. It was audi a3 1.8T. he told me chnage the belts at the same time as he would have take old 1 off in the 1st place

he no cowboy, not like some other clowns, who suggested it was fans not kicking in, (plonkers)

fuse on the top of the battery is a possibility too mind, ive already experienced this and was out in my mates LCR the other day when the temp hit 120, thought straight away waterpump but turned out to be the cooling fan fuse

true, if both of the 2 pipes from the raditor are hot then the fans are NOT cooling, if the 1 pipe is just warmer than the other, the water is not circulating, water pump issue then

Cool thanks guys ill check these bits tomorrow

see if you can get to see the mangled mess that is your old pump......
does it look like this!

got my new pump through IMG in Warrington and it was metal!
deffo get all belts and the tensioner done at the same time. as already said....if it has to come off anyway, no point putting the old ones back on!

 thats how mines looked when tmechanic showed me! they now uprgaded it to the metal blades so less chance of messin up :banned:
