Does anyone know how often this is supposed to recalculate itself? I.e. is it set at every nth second?

I've noticed that my readout on the trip computer seems to stop calculating the average speed shortly after I reset it. I.e. for the first couple of miles it will update every few seconds but after a few minutes it seems to change very little. I do a lot of motorway driving and yet it appears to believe my average speed is only 30-40 MPH for a majority of the time.

Bit of a random one I know but just wondering if it's behaving correctly or not?

mines always changing, am sure its fairly often that it updates.

i do alot of motorways miles too, and a fair bit in town and its always changing

if you ever sit in traffic, or travel on a roads etc....you'll probably find its correct. I do 60/70 miles on the motorway everyday and mine still says 50-60 but its because I spend so much time in traffic on a roads etc at 2 mph it drags it right down

yup

most people will average around the 30mph.
the longer it is since the last reset, the less the speed will change as any journey you have will have less impact on the overall speed/calculation.

its amazing that you can completed a journey thats 90% motorway and end up with 40mph average. the stops at junctions, parking etc take more effect than you realise.

It's a bit like the average mpg. Someone gets a long term average of say 24 mpg but come time to sell just resets makes a few long journeys tootling along at 50 mph with low gear changes and bingo. "It's a very economical motor for the performance mate, look my average mpg shows 32". ;)
