I recently had my Ibiza pd130 re-mapped, running stage 1 at 175bhp and 280lbs torque. This killed the standard clutch, so I had a new up-rated clutch and standard DMF fitted.

After doing 60 miles I noticed the car was juddering when setting off, only very slightly but noticeable. It then got noticeably worse as the miles ticked up! I got to around 600miles and thought I would test it by putting my foot down! This caused the car to judder like hell at 2K rpm.

Took the car back to the garage where I got the work done and then reckon it’s the DMF, which I do too. The problem is now they said they will not fit another DMF because the torque is breaking it. I told them it did this before I even put my foot down! But they are still adamant the car broke it, so won’t fit another one. They will give me my money back, but what can I fit instead? I don’t won’t a SMF because they are so noisy. Maybe a better DMF? Has anyone ever had a standard DMF brake on a stage 1 map like mine? What can a standard DMF handle?

Thanks

i hat Dual mass flys, they are shite and and so more ubnreliable, why manufacturers ahad to change to them i'll never know. Take it somewhere else if you have your money back

I'm running 370lb through a DMF, and Mikeyboy is running well over 400 at the wheels through his. Seems sometimes they just "go". Mine's still behaving itself at the moment.

Can you tell me a bit more about this judder ? I have an Allards clutch plate and when pulling away from a standing start (driving normal rather than like I stole it) I get what feels like clutch judder. I've always put this down to the plate not wanting to be slipped as you pull away and it biting "off and on" as if the balance wasn't right. Other than that the clutch is fine up and down the box, although sometimes on a downshift when slowing it can snatch slightly as you lift off the clutch.

I'm now thinking it could be the DMF but I'm really hoping not!

Ah sounds like a similar thing to mine, but mine judders when booting it past 2k rpm! When all the torque kicks in, not sure why this happens though. Could be the clutch slipping a little, or the DMF struggling under the high torque! Probably the DMF though.

Have you got the five paddle version like me? I think its exactly as you say and its the fact that it doesn't slip.
Mine was the same but has got better with miles.

Yes it is. That's a bit more re-assuring if yours is the same! The problem is that now I've discovered the Allards site, I am too tempted to really start some serious playing (and paying!).:D

The savings plan is already in motion.

1 - SWMBO and the kids don't need to eat as much meat as they do so I'm dishing out new rules and lots of potato recipes to speed my plans up somewhat.
2 - SWMBO can only have her Octy VRS remapped (and OEM sat nav installed) after I've been to Allards to have the Leon turbo charger ......ahem ..... recalibrated .... cough cough..... to allow for my excessive commute.
3 - The mortgage can wait.
4 - We can live without furniture - check out my new EBay shop!
5 - New bathrooms and kitchens need to be fully understood as being for losers!

Lets just say my other half is incredibly understanding about me spending money on cars..!

She also has no idea on how much I have spent!

I think I sold the big turbo as an investment as i explained that a new turbo is cheaper than a new car (which was the alternative)

She also like driving it which helps. :D

I did that to hang onto the Seat when sprog #2 came along........ I argued something around "rather than all the hassle of changing both cars, lets just get rid of my shagged 406, buy a bigger family car and I'll have your Leon" to which she agreed.

So I got an Octy2 VRS "for her" and kept the Leon for me. Modding money for the Leon is proving difficult as she wants OEM sat nav and a remap on the Octy (before which it needs an air intake, exhaust, FSD's etc) !
