Hey All,

I currently drive a Seat Leon 1.9 TDi FR (150bhp).

I had it now about a month and love it. Just wanted to know whats the best way to up the horse power [B)]. I was thinking of Re-maping however have seen a few chips that i dont think id want to risk putting in incase they go wrong.

If anyone whose currently driving one of these has upgraded the power could let me know what kidna things they did that wud be great.

Secondly how far do people think i could take the BHP before the car starts to be under too much strain?

All replies would be greatlfully appriciated..

Cheers!!

Surrey darling...
Just take it to a reputable re-mapping specialist like AMD, REVO or Custom code and have them re-map your ecu! Has to be the best way to get a little extra out of the engine and I haven't heard of people having problems after doing this! I'm sure most on here would back me up in saying that too tbh...

Yep, I have a FR 150bhp. I have had an AMD remap on mine, fitted a Green air filter element and it goes like stink. Had it rolling roaded at Motoscope in Northalerton and it came out at 203bhp. Not bad really, 53bhp for £450.

Remap is essential, car gets quicker when you want it, but your fuel economy also improves if you dont kick your cars teeth in everywhere you go

From what I've read the only thing that you may need to consider after a re-map on a derv is an uprated clutch...I don't drive one, but because of the rise in torque you can eat the std clutch quite quickly...obviously it depends on driving style...!

A remap is more likely to get you upto 190bhp-ish. Not 200 plus with a map alone.
That'll most likely be a dyno lottery figure.

And as has been said the clutch is definetly a weak point when it comes to that much torque. Some peoples are fine, others can't even cope with standard torque.

Have you got any other mods planned? Brakes are a must really if you are going to go with more power and you could always improve the handling a little as well ;) It's a slippery slope!!:lol::lol:

As mentioned, a re-map will be 100% safe and reliable if you stick to a reputable tuner.

Have a look at our forum section if you like. The P-Torque stage 1 map is just £265 all in for SCN members :)

Feel free to call me on 01902 324584 if you would like a chat ;)

P-Torqe I have had a look at your website and looks very promising. Only downside is that i see your based in Wolverhampton.. I live in Grimsby which is North East Lincolnshire (On the coast). I shall give you a ring and speak to you as i'm abit inexpeirenced with my Leon (only had it a few weeks).

In relation to handling i was debating about new brakes and a new clutch if i decided to go with the extra power!

Also what do you guys reckon to Air Filters and Dump Valves... i was also considering these however due to my lack of Seat knowledge i thought id ask the experts :p

Any more information re getting more BHP and better handleing would still be greatly appriciated! :)

Many Thanks!

Id have to put better stopping before more power! 312mm upgrade isnt too expensive and has good reviews from people.

ARBs have got good feedback aswell. Could also throw in strut braces.

Exhaust is another thing to look at!

There is no definite answer on what order to do things in so it's down to personal choice, budget, what you want to achieve, etc.

More stopping power? I've got a remapped LCR and pikey discs and pads, and only once have I had noticeable brake fade, and that was only when I was driving like a complete ******.

Just a performance panel filter is fine on the 150PD, no need to fit an open induction kit.

I wouldn't bother with a Dump Valve to be honest ;)

If you e- mail me your postcode when you are ready, I should be able to organise I mobile dealer to come to you

Dump valves on a diesel don't actually do anything but make a noise !!

By getting a remap to increase your boost, and a green panel air filter, your actual turbo will sound like a mini dump valve when you let off the gas :)

As for better brakes - always a good option, but I've never had an issue with the standard brakes. I'm still on the original pads & discs & they are fine, and have never let me down.

A lot of people have also improved the handling on their FR's by changing the suspension, springs arbs etc - I've just got a strut brace on the front & back and found everything else to be fine - it's purely your own personal preference :)

some people want a fairly quick car, not a absolute monster like yours lol, but as devonmikeyboy says, that is what you need to for big power

I know you where only messing mate . Don`t know what the 1/4 mile is to be honest. I should test it plus the usual 0-60mph rubbish but to be honest i just tune my car for me not to show or boost that it is faster/better then anyone elses car. A quick 1/4 mile time doesn`t mean it`s a fast or good road car.
