8000k HID conversion pack

Again, surprised that places which sell HIDs don't stock 6000k. The general consensus is that 6000k is the best compromise for light and colour.
If i was I'd be tempted to put your current ones of ebay and get a 4300k or 6000kset off there too.

Others may disagree with this but I also personally wouldn't bother with paying over the odds for a brand name with HIDs, Make sure they’re covered by some sort of warranty and they are specified as waterproof. (Most are designed to be but if it’s specified you have a better case when you need to claim for an exchange).

I have had 6000k and now have 4300k and they are muchos better for light output.

Wouldn't bother with 6000k any more for my next car, I will be going 4300k.

However, for my next set I am going for Hids4u set as they have the correct filters (that don't kill ECUs) and have the correct bulb warning light thing to stop it coming off.

There have been reports (a couple on briskoda) of cheap knock off copies from China etc can cause ECU failures due to the lack of voltage spike control and crap filters.

That's not to say they will but there is a possibility. The HIDS4u kits have all the correct filters etc to combat this. It's more of a problem on the next gen cars such as new passat, octy, Superb etc.

Normal HIDs shouldn't kill ECUS you get what you pay for

I've always bought mid-range type kits and never had or heard about problems with them. A friend of mine owns a custom body and sounds shop and sells both the non branded and branded kits. He's had more complaints with the branded apparently. Now it could be that less people complain about the cheaper ones but he either way he's compared the two (he sells) electrically and says there's no difference. Cheap knock offs are usually discovered very quickly and they don’t stay around for long.

I'm not convinced you get anything extra from the more expensive kits but that's down to personal choice.

Each to their own but I know i'd rather have come back on a more expensive car. I currently have a generic set but will go branded for my next set.
