Hi All,

I noticed last night that my windscreen is cracked. It is about 10 inches long on the lower passenger side.

I'm just about to phone my insurance company to try and get this sorted as quickly as possible. Is there anything I need to know about the type of glass it is? I.e tinted, heated, etc.

I have a completely standard Mk1 SEAT Leon FR TDi 150.

I know the windscreen is a heated screen but I don't know if it is tinted.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Mike

Front windscreen?

If so, this is not heated - no SEAT is fitted with a heated front screen as far as I know.

As regard to tint - I think SEAT tint their front windows slightly as standard - more or less to the legal maximum - so just asking for a bog standard windscreen should sort you

Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, its the front windscreen I mean. I thought it was heated because I have a windscreen button on my climate control. It is the same button as in our other car (a Focus) which has a heated windscreen.

Thanks for the tint bit. I just popped out and noticed that my side windows are tinted so it makes sense to have the front done a little bit as well.

Time to see what my insurer says I suppose.

Thanks for the help.

The Ford's have a proper heated screen as you say - the one thing I miss from them!! Although the wavy lines in the screen can drive you mad sometimes!

On the SEAT's the demist button simply sets the climate system to the correct settings to clear the screen quickly - basically it sends all the air to the front screen, turns the fans right up and turns the A/C on, if it's not already - when you press the button again it returns to whatever settings you had it on before.

fully agree with leigh15 on this
best innovative thing ford have done, and wish they would release the patents / trademarks so others can do as simply a live safer especially in winter months

You are right. There is no heated windscreen, in this model at least.
I'm now trying to organise for this to be replaced on Monday at work. At least it will only be by £70 excess I pay. It could have been worse.
