Speed Camera Detectors / GPS

Recieved the item this morning.
Nice looking little unit, has a lovely soft rubbery feel to it, so even without the magnetic mount attached its pretty sturdy on the dash on its own.
It nearly fits perfectly into the ashtray, shame that! But it slots into the drinks holder perfect, holds it like it was designed to do so.....but having the drinks holder open all the time looks crappy.
Other option is the little tray by my right knee, but not sure if the alert/sound will get my attention when I have the stereo loud.
The corner of the drivers side dash is also perfect in size, but then it will be on show and I don't know if a scummy thief would think its worth loads of money sat there and smash my window to get it.

I've got the old road angel plus. I find it brilliant and it has saved me at least 3 times (it's basically paid for itself). The fact that it is rechargable is a massive bonus (no wires)...

So it should for £300. I wanted something that alerts me but doesn't attract the wrong type of attention (ie - little thieving gits!)
I've got velcro stuck to the base of mine and stuck to the dash, it's easily removed

I park up next to them and make love to the pole.
laser detectors are usless. by the time you pick it up, (if you pick it up) your already done. It takes about 0.05 secs to take a reading.
Also radar / laser detectors are not going to pick up truvelo cameras. These use wires in the road and not a radar or the like.

I have a Pogo, which has plenty of features and works really well - even tells you what your average speed is between average speed cameras
What I'm saying is your eyes are probably the best and cheapest form of camera detection. IMO speed camera detectors are no better than a person who is alert to his/her surroundings. I should know as I have one (and most days chose to leave it at home!)

ive had some products from this company in the past. Were very good and reliable, with a good database.
However i do find their annual charges to be very expensive, as well as the kit being expensive.
I would rather pay per update, or have a cheaper subscription which limits your updates.
Or a well prices lifetime charge.
Not sure why you would want another device which only tells you where the cameras are and what speed you're doing when your existing TomTom does that and a whole lot more?
I use my TomTom in the car pretty much for every journey as if I don't need it for navigation, it's still on for mobile 'phone calls and speed camera warnings.
I have the POI database from Pocket GPS World which is a cheap annual subscription and has mobile, fixed, average and red light camera positions updated monthly.
As said earlier, sensors which try and pick up lasers are pointless and those which pick up radar are only effective if there are other road users ahead for the radar to bounce off.
Hardwiring a TomTom can be pretty easy as you can just tap an inline socket into an existing ignition controlled live and an earth, then plug the TomTom lead into it and hide it behind the dash. You can get Brodit ProClips with which to mount a TomTom away from the windscreen.
