What to buy??

Hello,

Need some advice as a newbie!!!

Looking to buy new/used car, and the options are:-

1. 57 plate Grey Leon FR TFSI 18000 miles £11500 from non Seat dealer
2. 07 plate Red Leon Cupra 22500 miles £12000 from car supermarket
3. 08 plate Red Civic Type R GT 7000 miles £12500 from car supermarket
4. 57 plate Grey Leon FR TFSI 10000 miles £11500 from Seat dealer.

Has to be bought from a trader as I have a Clio 182 to part exchange. As you can see bit of a difference in price mileage and age. Any advice re pros and cons of FR and Cupra would be welcomed as well as advice re car supermarket vs dealer!!

I drove the Leon Cupra and the Type R back to back.

No contest the Leon is so much quicker, the Type R has a great interior.

All down to choice.

A major difference is the fact that the Leon is 5 door and not 3 like the honda. I would have loved to have the civic but need back doors.
Since owning a Leon (fr tdi) I would now choose a cupra if I were buying again.

The civic looks awsome inside and out but i just found it a little mundane to drive untill you get into the v-tec which means driving like a loon most of the time. it is prob because i am used to turbo cars and the v-tec is so different, like i said each to their own.....the world would be very boring if everyone liked the same!!!

Agreed. The interior of the Civic is light years better than the Leon, but on the flip side, the Leon would piss all over the Civic on the road or track especially with £500 spent on it (remap).

Pay your money and take your choice. I would take the Cupra over a TFSi FR or a Civic Type R any day despite its shortfalls.

CUPRA for me to bud, everyone i've ever spoke to who has owned of drove a type R just sais they arn't usable on the roads.

To be fair my heart says Leon but aint sure which, Cupra or FR. Is the Cupra more expensive to maintain as it is higher performance? Also the extra year or so warranty on the FR might sway me (boring I know!!). In general, are there many warranty claims on these two??

Running costs are much the same. There may be a couple of mpg difference, and brake pads/discs are going to be more for the Cupra as will insurance, but thats about it.

Are you planning to leave the car standard or do you think you will fall in to the slippery slope of modifications?

get the cupra, if you got the fr you might live to regret it.

Cupra for me, the handling is much better than the FR, and has much better bang for buck tuning potential, only heard of one warranty claim so far on a cupra, 3rd cylinder valves sticking open AFAIK..
