Was sitting in the car saturday fidling about and decided to have a go at taking out the headlight switch as I want to get a boost gauge soon and was checking how to wire it in. I take out the headlight switch and then put it back in...

Go to start the car and nothing, ignition turns on all lights come up as normal (noticed the ABS light and traction control light flicker on and off)

What was weird was my clock, trip counter and radio had all reset... hummm Walked back to mine to get my tool kit and by the time I got back top the car it stated up all be it with a little struggle.

Come sunday I filled it up and when to start the car and it struggled again but I though nothing of it. Decided to then go to gets at home to get some stuff for my pets, was in there literally 10minutes came out and car wouldn't start and radio had reset along with my trip counter so at this point I knew my battery might be playing up.

Bump started it and it was fine but I am now in the position of do I get a new battery or is this something else???

Any ideas guys, done a search but not much on battery just draining.

How old is the battery?

I would guess around 5 years, however the little green light on the top that indicates if its alive or not is still green even when I can't start the car

Im wondering if its the battery, the alternator not charging the battery or the power is being drained somewhere.

Easy enough to check with a multimeter whether it's the battery, alternator or what.

5+ yr old battery really has had a good innings, and worth replacing for £40 anyway

A little update on this...

I got home and tried my car battery charger kit on the battery but the car would not turn over at all! And everytime I did the radio kept resetting???

Could the battery be THAT dead this happens?
