around 23000 miles and unless something got in while it was been fitted but as it is now all sealed and no rips or tears in the filter.

wouldnt take much rob. bit of paper/cardboard/polythene. made to such high tolerances. only other explanation i can think of is running lean, and that didnt seem to be the issue at motorscope. unles youve gone sps mad since!

Think awesome will know more once the turbos out and i will ring them Monday to see whats what.

No havnt gone sps mad just changed the fuel setting to 9.

I wonder if somethng got in while the ITG intake was being fitted cause thats the only time anything could of.

The standard airbox has a screen (air straightener) yes, but none of the aftermarket filter kits do as far as im aware.

When changing to aftermarket CAI's you want to be incredibly careful that nothing falls into the pipework as there is no protection between the outside world and the turbo impellers.

Andy at ITG was saying if you run a turbo car with a race filter on the road and particulates get through the filter media, when the turbo spools up hard these bits of crap can heavily pit/dent the turbo's impeller blades! So if it is something slightly bigger than dust or dirt particles you can only begin to imagine what will happen.

That standard turbo on mate?
any ideas as to what caused it yet?

Yeah just a straight swap, was gonna buy hurdys gt28 but would have had to transport the car again as Awesome didnt really want to fit a second hand turbo.

Revo dont do software for it, only the gt30 so too much hassle and unless i did the internals at an extra 3k it would have just been running same as stage 2+ anyways so thought i might aswell stick with the standard blower.

No idea what caused it, no sign of anything in the system, Awesome think its just a duff turbo from the start which is just my luck.

Should get the car back this weekend, full cost inlcuding fitting S3 ic, catch can and cam lobe check is £1800 :headhurt: Been an expensive month lol.

Hi RobH

What catch can did you go for? and how much if you dont mind me asking?

Thanks

I went for the BSH catchcan it was £100 from a group buy on Mk5gti forum

This is the first time ive had the cam follower checked appart from when JBS fit the hpfp, just think its best to keep an eye on it tbh.
