on my old cars ive always upgraded the suspension its amazing what difference it makes to the car even pulling away and stopping gets altered by better suspension, even though i think you should get a remap to see what difference it makes your money would definatly be better spent on upgraded suspension as it will make far more difference.

what kind of cost are you looking at for susp upgrading? if i allow 275 for remap, 270 for custom exxhaust (quoted) how much for suspension upgrading? id only do springs.

if your doing suspension you have got to do the shocks aswell to make a real difference to the handling ive never bought just springs but i have a mate who has and the difference it made was it made the ride harsh and the car handle about the same way.
id guess a price of 200 to 300 for shocks and springs but that is a wild guess.

well guys (and girls!),

i dont know how well this is going to sit with you guys but hey, i was told when i first joined here...."its your car mate so you do what you want to with it" so im going to. im going to take it for a remap!! been looking into it. at best its a gain of 10bhp, 12nm torque and a fair few mpg depending on what i specify. now i can hear you all yelling at your computer screens....... DONT DO IT. well i know its a fair wedge of money for what you fr and cupra drivers would call minimal gains. but i want to see what i can squeeze out of this little car. i know theres a fellow 1.2 driver out there who has got 80bhp out of his.

wish me luck on my long road to tuning this little beast! help and support will be much appreciated, criticism will be read and taken on board.....everyone has their own opinion!

well mate im not going to lie to you ,dont waste your time and money with this

if you want my advice you may aswell just keep saveing for a cupra or something like that where i would make a difrence worth while

The choice is yours mate...usually, back seats, carpet, sound deadening...my mate has a 1.2 corsa thats a right rocket cos it weighs nothing...same with my mates civic type r...just has a dash and 2 bucket seats. It is a compromise tho.
It's like you say tho, if you need that stuff then it's a no-go. Is still hte easiest and most effective way to gain power-to-weight.

just hang on to those pennys for a couple a years mate the wait will be worth it in the in,

or even betta just put into bricks and morta [B)]

who really wants to do that when there young though really might aswell have kids while your at it and completly ruin the fun part of life.

lol love it. well ive listened, and i could wait, but being a student in my 3rd year....its going to be years till i can afford an fr or cupra (unless i get a loan....but il be paying off my student loan!) you never know in years to come you might see my 1.2 burning a cupra :p :p hahaha

and how comes you need shocks too and cant just have springs?

lol well obviously. but if the cupra was doing 40 and i was doing 70........!!!

What happend to those "Chips" that were around years ago that just plugged in and gave more BHP for about £50?

don't get about people saying 'too young' for a blah blah!

Im 18 and have a PD130 Sport, my insurance is £1000 FC and live in a C rated area.

Well mine's £2000 in a quiet area on a 1.2 S! That's after phoning every insurance company i could find! A quote on a cupra came back at £4700!
